Ok, so I have a Sony Ericsson W300i. I know it's no comparison to the iPhone, but I'm not do for an upgrade for another year or so. I don't think I'm going to be able to wait until that's up. iPhone prices probably won't come down anytime soon. Should I wait until my upgrade time to get a little money off of iPhone, or would it be just as well to buy it when it comes out or soon after... and not go crazy waiting? Anybody else in the same situation?

Is your Sony phone with AT&T?
If so, EVERYONE is eligibale for an upgrade to the iPhone. I wasn't eligibale for an upgrade till march 2008. But they are making an exception to the iPhone.

Why wait? it could be 4 months till we see iPhone 2.0 or it could be 4 years. Break up with your girlfriend for a couple of months so you can have enough money for an iPhone. It's a great device. I haven't had a single issue with it since purchased.

excellent device and not having any second thoughts about dropping dough for the phone. I'm the type that second guesses all the time too.

To wait, or not to wait....

Waiting is up to you. It's like saying, "I know that better MacBook is coming out in the next few months, do I wait or not?"

General consensus is that if it makes sense to buy, then buy now. Be aware that Apple is currently consuming 25% of the NAND flash market, and they are predicting a shortage of these types of memory over the next several months, plus it's only a matter of time before Apple opens us the European market to the iPhone. Shortage means higher prices. This may not be felt immediately by Apple, but it will.

Heck, if the current version of the iPhone has all the features you want, and you can enjoy using it now, then why wait? Who knows what the next version of the phone will have as features and what it's availability will be?

Come on in the water is fine...

I was at work today and one of our vendors took our team out for lunch. She noticed my iPhone and just had to know how I like it, and then asked if she could see it. Next thing you know she is surfing the web, listening to the iPod, using Google maps, and then pulled up "Swear Jar" on YouTube. The whole office was gathered around to see YouTube on the phone. The iPhone practically got a round of applause. Everytime I pull out the iPhone and someone asks to see it people gather around to see it.

Funny, most of them make fun of the phone, and the people who have bought them... But it sure doesn't stop them from wanting to play with it or gathering around to see it. Something tells me they will end up buying one and all the comments really is just a reflection that they would like one too.

If your waiting for prices to fall I think your going to be waiting for a while. Apple has managed to keep prices of iPod's quite high and have amazing margins on these things. I don't expect it to be any different with the iPhone. So if you want one, just buy it and enjoy it. It really is very good.

I keep hearing people say, that the price will come down like the Razor. "Are you kidding me right now", is usually how I respond to that. I'm guessing that they think that since they give iPods away these days to people that walk by the Apple stores.

I have always paid $300+ to have the coolest phone out. I'm glad that I won't have to do that for a long time. The iPhone is sick and blows away any phone I've ever had.

I've also heard that they're just going to come out with newer bettr models by the same people that won't spring for the current one. I'm sure the newer better iPhones will be cheaper, you know, since they'll have more to offer.

Keep up with the excuses. I'll keep enjoying my iPhone....and if a newer better one comes out, I'll get that one. :p

I'll hold off - the current iPhone doesn't suit me as well as my current unit.

Should I wait until the bugs are out - Ive heard there have been more than a few that have been recalled? And very soon all the other big carriers will be coming out with competition to iPhone....

This is a no brainer. If you are questioning buying it then you should buy it, you wont be disappointed. All the negative hype you are hearing is mainly jealousy from people that cant afford, or cant switch from Verizon to At&t:cool:

It's good that it's a 'no brainer' because apparently you don't posses one.

Like iMike said, there are no upgrade discounts for the iPhone so waiting for your upgrade date is a moot point. And yes, you will go crazy waiting to buy it. It's perfect NOW, believe us :p.
