Do you guys think it's time to sell up and sit tight for the iPhone 5 or sell my iPhone 4 closer to the end of September? I want to get my pre-order in the day it is available to do so.

I am going to at least wait until the official release date. May go longer. I've sold all the previous phones after I've gotten the new one. Still get a good enough price to pay for the new one. I think one time I did have to add a little, but not much.

Well I don't have another phone, so I would have to wait and my atrix is already worthless only 160 on gazelle
On gazelle the iPhone 4 16g is worth 226 I believe and the 32G more so you could make more than enough
I'd put it up on eBay the day the iPhone 5 is announced. You'll probably sell it for just as much that day as you would today and you'll get to keep it longer.

$175 for your Atrix, Canadian currency even. I wish I could get phones at gazelle's prices. Currently the iPhone 4-16 is $217, pretty worthless given the six bills it still retails at.

Where will you sell it? That makes a difference. People use Craigs List successfuly.
I sold all my iPhones on eBay and eBay didn't release any $ to me until the package went out and or I received positive feedback. The money in hand to buy the new iPhone before you send out the sold one will not work on eBay.
Last year I thought I'd be slick and sell my husbands and my iPhone on eBay and have about 3 days until I had to go to the 5th Ave store and get the iPhone 4. Less than 10 minutes after I put the phones up on eBay, they were sold. It was amazing. I was happy and pissed at the same time because I knew I had to get the phones out asap since they sold.
I didn't worry about the $ to purchase the iPhone 4, I had that tucked away, it was just being without an iPhone that wasn't cool because it sold so fast and I really didn't want the buyers to wait too long. Then it turned out that my hubby couldn't upgrade (as per AT&T) so I had to cancel one of the sales. I sent the iPhone 3GS that I could sell out when i got home from purchasing my iPhone 4 that Friday. I emailed the buyer and let them know and they were cool with it. I sent it over night so they only actually waited four days to get their phone and the $ was released to me that Monday, less eBays fees.

They only hold your $ if you are a new seller, or do not have many feedback stars. If you are an established ebayer, your $ is instantly in your paypal and can be used.

Ah, yes, I was a new seller. I had that account at that time for about 6 months but didn't sell from it until I was going to sell the iPhones. I actually made the account just for that and other stuff if I wanted.
I forgot that part. Thanks for clearing that up.
I should not have to wait this time around.

An iPhone 4 will sell for much more than that on eBay. I'd say closer to $400. $200 is the going price for an 8 GB unlocked 3GS.
Bottom line: iPhones hold their value well enough that you can average out free upgrades every year if you do eBay sales. The words worthless and iPhone should never be used in the same sentence.

Yes but like some one said above if you don't have a good seller account no one is gonna buy an iPhone 4 from you for 400.
