Yeah handbrake takes awhile to encode the files. But I recommend to download the newest version the was just released. Then choose the preset to iPad or iPhone. Then change the average nitrate to something around 2300. That makes for a good quality rip. But I find that it's best to encode a chapter here and there and adjust settings to see what the final product is like.edit--I just realized that when I minimized handbrake, it was still in the toolbar on the bottom right and it was still converting. The program is saying that I have about 10 hours left. Is this normal? My computer is about 5 years old, but this seems like a long time.

Why not trying xilisoft converter I am happy with mine. But if your computer is that old that's how much the file conversion is gonna last. I had a laptop and it was taking ages to convert.i advise you to use vuze there is a very easy converter inside which also copies them to transcode file. u can choose your device to convert such as iPhone ipad Apple tv. hope it helps
I know that but trust me I've had vuze and was slowing down my pc a lot just bcose of the iTunes mp4 converter and not only that. And besides vuze slowing down the system on old pc there's the posibility of getting a virus it happens to me and I had to reinstall my OS. That unless u own a Macwhy pay? vuze already does it for free. and also replaces in transcode auto..
I use a program called cucusoft. It's both a DVD ripper and video file converterHello, I am thinking about getting Apple TV and would like to know what video converter I should use to convert avi files to mp4, for use in iTunes. Thanks
yep I was wrong when I chose xilisoft; it does a pretty good job but not as handbreake . I didn't know about it until recentlyStill support for handbrake, and now it's update, add the presets for the new Apple TV, the iPad and the iPhone 4. Though there are some little flaw(doesn't handle DTS audio tracks or single VOB files) need to use other tools like iFunia to be a complement, overall, it works like a charming man!
