Heard that Google is planning to release a Gphone. I am just worried whether iPhone is going to lose credibility after the release. As far as I can see from the initial pics it doesn't seem even 25% close to iPhone. What have u heard or wat do u think?

LOL. dude, what?

You're treating the iPhone like it's a person. Loose credibility? If Apple were at all interested in giving the iPhone a better image they would have dropped a more comprehensive 1.0 product rather than the useless vanityware it is.

Google are about value, Apple -- more about image. The Google phone will mostly like be chocked with features from day one and support a more open platform and probably, a lower price.

So, if by loosing credibility you mean making the purchase an iPhone look foolish by comparison then yes, I'd say there was some risk of that.

LOL..

I don't think those pictures are real. It wouldn't surprise me to find that the Gphone will be touch screen and contain a proper keyboard after the criticism that the iPhone got for it's lack, but that phone would have to be pretty damned big for that keyboard to be useful. Assuming it was the standard size for a touch screen phone, around the same size as an iPhone, I reckon that keyboard would just be too small, especially since it doesn't even cover the size of the whole phone.

I don't like those fold out keyboards anyway, should I ever get an iPhone I just plan to use the predictive texting feature by having the 12 numerical keys up instead of full keyboard (you can do that right? I think I saw it somewhere). Hopefully by the time a 3G iPhone's released we'll have horizontal keyboard functionality anyway.

Nope, you can't. But trust me, the keyboard interface is much better than T9. Even though the buttons seem small, the visual feedback and its own predictive methods of correcting input is excellent. You wouldn't be disappointed.

With all the hype the iPhone has presently, will it hold the same after the launch of Gphone. I don't think so. However, if Google releases a Gphone like the shown on zdnet blog, then iPhone may still be in the race.

yeah I agree that the fold out keyboards are just a mess and that damn phone just looks huge.

iPhone has been out just over a month. This is Apples opening phone product, and I believe they have a very strong foothold. I mean how long has Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Palm, or Sony/Ericson been producing phone products? This phone in two years will have many bugs worked out, it will get new applications, new web apps are being conceived daily, and the phone is(like I have heard it put before)a blank slate. If google makes this phone I am sure it will have its own nice features, but I don't believe they will steal much hype away from the iPhone.

Google, the public company, is about maximizing profits. Don't kid yourself into thinking they are some sort of benevolent charitable organization.

Your comments about the iPhone show that you are so dead-set against it you would champion vaporware instead. To me, that is a lot more foolish than buying an iPhone that does everything it was advertised to do-well.

BTW: If Google ever does make a phone it will still be known as the Gghone Beta 2 years down the road. Then it will move from the main Google page to the "More" menu and it's pretty much downhill from there. ;)

No joke, I've been hearing about the Google phone even before I heard talk about the iPhone. Those pics surfaced some months ago, and even the content of the article is the same stuff that has been circulating for a long while now.

Like much of the discussion we all heard about the iPhone prior to the launch, I'll continue to file the Google phone & related news under "I'll believe it when I see it."

So its going to be a cell phone right? It just seems strange from the wording of that article, flat internet fee and all. It almost seems like a wifi phone that google will offer service for through their google talk thing.
