Turn off all notifications. Turn off wifi(unless your surfing the web) set email the to fetch and manual. Clear cookies, cache, and history. And keep your brightness the lowest u desire. Close all apps in dock

This question has so many possible answers. I would say I use my iPhone quite heavily, I use it for push exchange email (2 accounts) all day, I am constantly on facebook and twitter, and I play games whilst listening to music on the commute to work and after this all day, I still have about 20% battery left.

If yours is lower than that, go get it checked out by a genius.

Long hold the task bar to kill running processes.

Thanks, it did improve my battery life, but it's still not much. I think I'll be going to an Apple store to see if I can get the battery changed

Well it is, but when you experience a problem like this, it's always best to explore all possibilities. And while running a few apps in the background may not use up a bunch of power, running 15 or so, with some graphic intensive games certainly won't help it.

Go to the Apple store. They will give you a new one. My 3GS only got 3.5 hours. They replaced it. An iPhone 4 has improved battery.

I don't see that there is anything wrong with that at all. Your settings also play a big part in determining what kind of battery life you will receive between charges.

Don't forget the "new toy syndrome" wherein you spend so much time "playing" with your new acquisition that the screen is always lit. That uses the battery as much if not more than anything else.

YMMV

I remember when the % became available to everyone, a fair number of us began obsessing over it. Just relax and enjoy your use of the phone. I'd recommend only becoming concerned when you can't get through your normal day without needing to put the phone on the charger then it will be the time to review your habits and settings.

YMMV

That's exactly it. If you're at work or school all day, and you're actually working or paying attention in class and NOT playing with your phone, you should be okay with battery life, even with normal usage (a few texts, calls, emails).

I notice that when I'm off from work, I'm always playing with the phone and it's dead by like 3 pm lol.

I posted a shot of my battery usage below. I have everything on. Wifi, 3G, BT, Location Services, Notifications, etc.
I can tell you that the best care for your battery is to keep it "topped off" whenever possible, and every month or every other month, drain it below 10% and then fully recharge before use again. It's better that you use it till it actually shuts off on its own, but that's not always possible.
90% of my usage this morning is SimplyTweet, CNN app, and Yahoo messenger. the other 10% is mail and safari.
Honestly, my battery has never been so good. And yes, I'm jailbroken, but no themes. Only SBSettings, Open SSH (which is off for security reasons), VoiceActivator, and MyWi.

If you type a lot, or constantly lock and unlock your phone, see if you can get by without the keyboard clicks and lock sounds (i.e. turn them off in Sounds). Those will drain the battery a bit faster by constantly activating the speaker as you type or put it to sleep or wake it up.

I was just wondering, how long should the iPhone 4's battery last? I can usually get through a day on mine, and I have done ALL of those battery saving tips, setting time zone, fetch email, half brightness, etc. is that normal?

I usually get through the day with mine with more than average use, I do charge it once a night though. What sort of battery percentages are you getting throughout the day?

And yes. It is normal ;)

Well, I usually will check something online, take a picture, you know, typical use. It'll show, 81% before I did that, then after those things I'll be at 80%. Then I'll put it my pocket for 5 minutes or so then take it out and I'll be at 79%. I usually use 1-4% when it's on standby between 10 minutes to an hour.
