Picked up both of these items today at Best Buy. The iTrip was $50.99 and the PowerJolt was $26.99. Both seem to work just fine. I get the error message that says the device was not meant for iPhone, but I just canceled the option to go to Airplane mode. It works much better than the Belkin TuneCaster II that I use with my ROKR and the kids' Nanos. The signal is clear and steady except when you pass under high-intensity power lines (but none of them work good everywhere). Overall, I was pretty pleased.

Got the tip from a poster here, but I can't find the thread now to thank him.

Anyway, Thanks!;)

iTrip Auto

Is this the one which has the frequency selector in line with the charging cord, etc.?

I tried the Belkin iCarPlay which did not work. The Griffin iTrip looks cool & glad it works with the iPhone but unless I'm missing something, it doesn't look like you can use the iTrip and a charger at the same time? The specs say that the iTrip is powered by the iPod (or iPhone). Is that right - there is no way to power the iPhone when using the iTrip?

iTrip Auto Doesn't Work For Me

Hi I purchased the iTrip Auto by Grifin. Tried it in my car but could not get it to work. Everytime I press the Select button on a vacant frequency I get a popping sound and then no audio. Have tried everything.

How did you get yours to work? Am I mssing somthing?

I bought one today (iTrip Auto) and it "fried" my phone. Having multiple problems and I'm sure I'll have to send it in for repair.

You have been warned. Wish I had been.

wow wtf thats bad.. I am using the itrip but not the auto version, I use the itrip that just goes under the phone/ipod and uses phone battery to work so i guess no risk of frying it like that.

I've been asking Griffin about this for several months. They sent me an email on the 29th of Oct. saying "...the Griffin iTrip Auto and iTrip have not been officially approved by Apple but our Quality Assurance team has tested them since the update and they do work. ...We hope to have an iPhone iTrip very soon."

However, on their site they do not show either product as being specifically compatible with the iPhone, only with the iPod Touch. I have the iTrip (the one that sits right at the bottom of the iPhone like a dock) and it works fine for me. I can only guess that the one in development will have additional features.

Big Relief!

Apple replaced (not repaired) my iPhone. I'm grateful they stood behind their product. I'm going to be pretty shy about accessories (and SDK stuff) from here on out.
