"The software required for iPhone is not installed. Please run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."

I downloaded the latest version 2 times, and uninstalled, removed Quicktimes and iTunes manually after that, re-installed. Nothing works! I've tried this 4 times. I have windows vista, asus motherboard, and an ati card, if that helps.

I spent 700 on the darn phone, and now it won't even install.

Can anyone help me out here? I'm kind of pissed...

I activated things perfectly on my Mac at work (all contacts and iCal items loaded). When I went home to try and load my music off of my PC, I got the same message as you. I reinstalled iTunes on the PC a couple of times and no luck. In my case, I suspect that it is because I activated it on a Mac and then tried to have a PC recognize it. Slightly bummed about that.

I was able to connect it to a different Mac for a successful iPhoto transfer. Are you having the problem with a Mac or a PC?

I am having the same problem with it on my vista machine.
In my case I believe it has to do with the iPhone device driver not being installed properly.

I have not resolved the problem yet, I ended up activating it on my laptop. If I figure it out tomorrow I will let you know.

I'm running pc, vista. This is really gay how Apple doesn't even make products that will work correctly with their competitors.

But they have alternatives for mac that're like office. There's no alternative to activate my iPhone... And Microsoft says what their stuff is compatible with. Apple says it'll work, but it's not working...

And I don't really want to get into a mac vs pc debate, I'm just trying to see if someone would like to help me out.

I had the same problem and was able to finish the activation on a friends computer. Just make sure you don't sync anything on his iTunes but you are still able to activate and use the phone etc. Hope that helps

Thanks for the link, I've tried that, but still no luck.

And please stop turning this into a windows war. I have what I have, I don't really care what OS I have, and windows has worked fine for everything else.

And I do know facts before I post, I've read other forums, same problems for other people. All running vista. I havn't had a single auccessful vista install yet.

Please no more windows or mac bashing here. I just would like help with my iPhone.

I'm going to keep researching, but help is MUCH appreciated. I called tech support, but was on hold for 2 hours.

I am also having a hard time confirming compatibility with 64-bit windows systems of any kind. Can anyone chime in with this info? I do believe Vista 64 in not supported at this time.

I'm having problems on my Mac too. My phone is activated but it says that it can't update my library file and always complaining about not being able tocomplete the transaction because the server is busy even though it did complete because it is activated.
