I've watched numerous videos on how to hide this icon but ever since IOS 5.1 came out I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't care about the icon, what I want to do is free the NY Times app from inside the stupid thing
I have all my apps in folders do I only have I page, except now I have two pages because the news stand is on the second page. I liked only having one page.
I think if you jailbreak there's a way to delete it, but I haven't looked because I need the Times!
There is a jailbreak tweak to hide it. I am sure it will continue when 5.1 jailbreak comes out.
There was a method of stashing the newsstand into a folder pre 5.1.x.
It involved sliding newsstand icon into a folder as it was being created. A bit tricky, but I did get it to work:
As u can see by the first screenie, it does not even show up in the springboard folder view, just a blank spot, but open the folder and there it is.
Still works for anyone on iOS 5.0.x
It is also an option in Springtomize:
but I do not enable it since I'm still on 5.0.1.
Can also be hidden via other Cydia tweaks...
