I typed ALL of my contacts through Outlook and sync it to the iPhone.

Anyone else?

This is something I've had a little difficulty with...

I synced with my yahoo address book, my .mac address book and my Palm address book (thinking that there MUST be some that exist on one list and not another) and I sync with TWO macs, one at home and one at work.

I was not amazed when I had duplicate entries, and have gone through my mac address book a couple of times to combine cards and weed out duplicates of the same person with slightly different titles (just one contact had JJ, JJ Steve the Spy, JJ Thespy, JJ 2007, JJ April trip 2007, JJ at sea, Steve the Spy; all the same person with three different emails and two different phone numbers) How did I get so freakin' many contacts for my friend JJ who I also call Steve the Spy? (It's a long story) I have a few contacts that have that many entries. EEEEEK!

So I go through the mac address book and pare everybody down to one entry and sync. Boop, all the entries are back. I do it again and choose "replace all entries on this phone from this computer" Seems to be better. I sync with the mac at work and all the contacts (all? I'm not sure, but some anyway) are back again. I get this box when I sync that shows either mac, iCal or my phone and says there's a conflict, and which one do I want to trust as the true contact or event. This or stuff like this happens every time I sync. How very frustrating.

So in answer to how did I get my contacts into my phone, the answer would be "over and over".

Any suggestions for how to make this stop with contacts and events? With Palm I could choose whether the phone or the computer was going to win in a conflict as a sync setting and didn't have to do it every time I synced. (would that be sanced in past tense?)

Thanks in advance for your help!

I just typed them all in ~150. Took only about 25 mins. Using the keyboard made it go damn fast as opposed to my old keypad input method.

I had them in Outlook for years, then when I got a Mac I bought a program to export the contacts from Outlook into a single file that I imported into the Mac Address Book. When I got the iPhone I just synced them.

Same as some of the others. They were synchronized right in through the address book in my Mac which had the contacts from my Treo.

I had Verizon before which gave me backup assistant, which backs up all of your numbers at the Verizon homepage. All of my contacts were already typed and on the internet, so I just downloaded them all and then just put them in Yahoo! Address book and synced them over.

I'm trying to get my contacts off of my verizon phone so I can put them onto my iPhone. I've already used Backup Assistant, to get the contacts onto verizon account page. Now what? How did you "download" them?

Ideally, I'd like to get them into Apple's address book, but yahoo address book would be OK, too.

Thanks!
