How do I get my iPhone 4 to recognize my new computer?

I have just purchased a new Win7 computer - old one was XP. I have iTunes set up on the old computer and have copied what I think is the back up - an encryped folder containing encypted files?.
Where do I copy them to on my Windows7 computer and will my phone automatically sync to the backup or do I have to do anything?

Would love to get help on this!
