iMac How do you feel about the optical drive being gone in the new iMac?

I'm a huge iMac fan. It is my main computer (27-inch, late 2009). It still suits my needs just fine, but who in their right might wouldn't want to upgrade?

I noticed that the newly announced iMac dispenses with an optical drive. Yes, I rarely use the optical drive as it is, but I think that Apple sent the optical drive on its way a little bit too soon.

It's nice to have the ability to pop in a CD or DVD and play it right on your iMac What do you guys think?

I feel about the same as I did when I got the last Mac mini, which was the first one without an optical drive - kind of screwed! You're right. We don't use them as much as before, but adding CD's and DVD's is now a chore. I jury-rigged an old drive from a desktop so I didn't have to spring for a new one, but will eventually have to. I like the Apple drive, but that adds another $85 to what existed in the prior version. Maybe there are better drives out there - I have read mixed reviews of the Apple drive.
