How loud is it ?

The answer is 8. Seriously, that is a subjective question. And my answer is that it is loud enough for me

mine is alright. the speaker phone is still useless, though. i have to hold it up to my ear to hear it.
Mine is only usable with the "Old Phone" ring, which I actually prefer over the other stock rings which are way too soft. The speakerphone works well only in relatively quiet places or (I've found) on hard surfaces like laying on a desk, where you get a little reflection. On a car seat I can't hear it at all.
As far as ringing... if you use any of the ringtone hacks... run them through an audio editor and maximize them, not normalize, maximize... make them LOUD before adding them to your phone.
It helps a bit. Use something like this...

Haha could very well be true after the straight pipes in my ex turboThat's because you're slightly deaf after listening to your flat six! LOL
On a side note, the speaker as we all know has the capability, I mean my mp3 's play very loud, and the new ringtone I made is pretty damn loud, ah well. Would still like it even a bit louder, can't hear it in my car LOL .

Quiet enough when your in a big crowd, iTunes wise that is.
If you ever owned or seen a 8525 volume at max, the iPhone is about 2/3 of that volume maybe even lower. That phone had a crazy loud volume and people would always tell me that when I was blasting music.

I did like it a lot actually but there were many overwhelming factors such as my bill, i was paying 39.99 a month for unlimited internet for it, ontop of 8.99 for 1500 texts, and then 39.99 for my phone which came out to be about 101$ a month on the bill a month. now that ive switched to iPhone im paying only 67$ for the same features. Sure I miss being able to play playstation games having blazing fast 3G which i was getting 1200kbs adverage on in san francisco area, being able to mod and customize everything I had I do not miss having a slow phone that crashed a lot, a phone that took 2-3 seconds to recognize and flip the screen when i opened the keyboard and all around M$ shitty ass OS.Also the batterylife on the 8525 because of 3g and even when not on 3g was pretty bad. it was a trade off, I lost a lot of features but gained a lot at the same time and I don't regret my decision, besides I still have my 8525 but my 8125 (sold) is long gone. Not loud enough for me. My previous phone was the Dash and that's what I'm comparing it to. Out of 10 and 10 being the loudest I would have to give the iPhone a 5. Like someone else said I have it on the "Old Ringer" just to barely hear it depending on outside conditions. I find the incoming sms and incoming mail just retarded and so freakin' low. U need to be in a padded room with no outside noise just to hear it. I haven't modded my yet but I'm sure I will be happier once that is done.
Had the 8125 which was the greatest most technical/computer like phone ive used.. I mean, yes it froze sometimes when I had lots of apps running, it delayed a bit but it was just so well put together, there werent any limitations. I downloaded pics and videos from the net, streamed from youtube, wrote my documents and emails and sent fast..
BUT I love the iPhone so far, more of a toy but i'm sure if we are patient we will have everything we wished for on it!
Yes, Same here, I have been using macs since i was 5 years old back when I had a Apple Mac IISi. Apple always fixes problems and is good at releasing updates and I avidly believe in them as with when I switched to OS X, was slow at first but once the updates started they kept rolling out. iPhone is by far one of the fastest phones i've ever played with when it comes to the many abilities it has, sure its internet isn't that fast as was my old phone but everything else is wow. The custom ringtones I added from the Ringtone maker in the Software thread has made a big difference as far as volume when the phone rings. I can actually hear it now from another room in the house or if I have it in my purse. I do agree that the speaker phone volume is worthless unless you put it right up to your ear, that definitely needs updating.
