How many of you will buy the next iPhone?

Interesting. I wouldn't wanna pay $150. Looks like free ones are hard to get now. It would be a good solution though.

I have upgraded every year so this year will be same. I'm used though to the 3.5 screen just fine, so I really don't need longer. I was glad to keep the same case as the 4 after having to get a new one for the 4. For the 4S and 4, I ended up ordering both a few weeks after launch and just had them delivered to my house. I'll likely do the same for the next one.

I'm pretty much on the same page. I have my 3rd gen iPad now, and I love getting iMessages sent to both devices and using some of the same apps on both, so it might be somewhat tough to switch.

I'm not a big fan of how Apple's devices deteriorate, however. They seem to optimize their latest software for whatever latest hardware and if the older devices don't run it well enough, tough. Yes, I know, they disable certain new features to make it run better on older devices, but it still slows them down. I've barely had my iPhone 4 a year now and it's actually pretty annoying to use. I grab my iPad or my girlfriend's 4S and they're such a pleasure to use in comparison. I can remember showing off my iPhone 4 to a guy with a Droid Incredible, opening up maps, searching for a place, asking for directions from my current location, and bam, everything was snappy as hell. He was so impressed. No way my phone would impress anyone if I tried that today.

Moreover, I'm very disappointed in all these leaks coming out showing nothing but an elongated screen to go with an otherwise unchanged appearance. I'm holding out hope that Apple is trying to throw everyone off. I was one of the people clamoring for a bigger screen when the 4S was debuting, but just stretching out the current design length-wise is not at all what I had in mind. If these leaks turn out to be accurate, someone at Apple is going to have to put on an extremely good presentation when they reveal the new phone if I'm going to be convinced to buy this stretched out thing. There are too many other great phones out there these days.

I have no idea if the 3G MicroCell will work with the new phone since it's not technically really 4G...

Thoughts?
Of course it'll work. The new iPad is a 4G device but will pick up older technology data signals when 4G isn't available. So your microcell will still provide you with reception in your house, but your data speeds won't be what they would be on 4G. That shouldn't matter considering most people have wifi in their homes.

Oh that's good to hear. Frankly I don't rust AT&T at all. I've stuck with them only because they gave me the MicroCell and it works for me. I suppose if the MicroCell continues to work on the next generation iPhone I'd stick with AT&T. The new debacle about FaceTime with AT&T over 3G doesn't bother me much because I don't use it. I wonder if Verizon will be next to put limitations on our data usage in the same way?

I wouldn't be concerned about these images floating depicting an elongated iPhone. They'er just artists' interpretations of an iPhone and don't represent, in any way, what Apple has planned for the next iPhone. Personally, I'm annoyed by the fact that rumor sites don't have the sense to inform people that the images they are posting don't represent possible design decisions by Apple......they're just some artists' renditions. Not very good ones at that.

Also, more than likely, the next iPhone won't be called the iPhone 5.
Apple's previous names aligned with the current iOS, but jumping from iPhone 4 to iPhone 6 doesn't make sense and using the designation "5" would be erroneous since the iPhone 4S is in fact the 5th gen iPhone.
Apple will probably go with simply calling it "The New iPhone", going with the naming convention they established with the latest iPad.

All that being said, I'm not sure I will upgrade to the next iPhone. I saw no need to upgrade to the 4S from my 4 since the difference between the phone weren't that substantial.
If the new iPhone has an interesting design update then I probably will. The big thing for me is iOS6 and whether or not it's features will warrant me giving up my beloved 5.1 jailbreak in order to simply get the newest iToy.

I guess we'll see.

I want it also. But don't know how I'm gonna afford it with Verizon. In order to keep my unlimited data plan I have to pay full retail for the phone. Totally sucks

I'm not sure. I'm only on the 3G because I was given it for free. It's my first iPhone and so far I'm quite impressed. I may just get a 4/4S instead though because rumour has it the iPhone 5 will be about £800-£1000 and thats a con. So I will just wait and see.

Macrumors is actually pretty good about labeling artist mockups.

What I'm talking about are the front panels/faceplates that have popped up -- pictures of actual hardware, not drawings, Photoshop or otherwise. They show the same elongated design we've been seeing for a while with no other design changes.

One of the things that bothers me the most about the current iPhone design is how much bezel there is. It's unnecessary as far as I'm concerned and other phone manufacturers have all but eliminated front real estate that is anything other than screen, speaker and buttons. A new design that is just an elongated phone equal to the elongated screen with no change in wasted bezel space would be just ridiculous in my opinion.

I like it, actually. Gives my thumbs a place to rest in landscape.

I will, because I have now iPhone 4 since Feb-11 and since I have it, never disappointed me and I wish that in addition to the iOS improvements, the screen's size increased and to be thinner than the current one. Saying that, doesn't mean that Apple policies in terms of Apple Store and iTunes are perfect!

I will buy the new iPhone for the wife but I'm enjoying Jelly Bean too much to return to iOS on my daily driver. I'll keep my iPad 2 around to get my iOS fix when I need it.

I am thinking that I may be getting the new iPhone when it comes out but may be just buying it as still have over a year on my contract. I think that this time I would get one with less storage as I have a 64gb 4s at the moment and with all my music now available on the cloud, makes things easier. Looking forward to maybe a bigger screen.

I'm tired of Looking at my 4s and getting bored of it since I had the iPhone 4 since launch and the 4s since launch and they both looked the same so yes I'm bored but won't switch to Android so yes I'll be getting the 5 when it's released.
