How to clean a rubber case?

I have an Incipio NGP case that has gotten filthy in the past month or so. It's probably a combination of where I work, plus I constantly shove my phone in my back jean pockets, so the denim dye has transferred to the pink color and makes it look...bruised haha.

Any suggestions on how to clean it? I've tried Dawn with a washcloth and stuff but nothing is working.

Sadly, you might not be able to completely remove the denim dye off the case with any cleaning product. The stain might not be superficial. :/

That's why I'm too worried to use silicone/rubber cases.

Could try a peroxide/alcahol solution but it could fade the color of the case too

I hve the same issue I got a new case but try the eraser it took a little of the jeans blue of mine

I usually stick my rubber cases in the washing machine without any running type colours in the wash. ie denim.

You might try soaking it in a mild chlorine bleach solution. I usually use a capful of "ultra" bleach to a sink of water -- not very precise, but you get an idea of the proportions. The chlorine bleach should help on the denim blue. I've not done this on my own case because I have no stains, only dirt. For dirt the Dawn with an old toothbrush method works for me. However, if my case were stained, I would try the chlorine bleach myself. Once a case is that stained I don't think you will really make things worse. With a phone case, a thorough rinsing with clear water should be enough to get any residual chlorine off of it when you are done.

Yeah its really a painful task i think so.. Anyway you should use warm detergent solution and then scrub with soft brush. And then use warm rubbing alcohol along with the hot. I hope then it will obviously work.

Or just consider change a new iPhone case, metal material is easy to clean~

I bought an expensive case from Case-Mate, it was a light color and it got dirty and nothing cleaned it. I like light colors and wish the materials were cleanable.

I tried the rubbing alcohol, it didn't do much but I appreciate the suggestions!

My daughter decided to do some drawing on my wife's leather chair today. Searching yielded similar results including hairspray, rubbing alcohol and the magic eraser. All are very good cleaning options, but I was concerned about the impact of the chemicals on the leather. I decided to use Dawn blue liquid soap. They recommend this stuff for travertine tiles, which are also extremely difficult to clean.

In any event, I used a healthy amount of Dawn on a wet paper towel. Using a circular motion, I was able to get most of the pen out of the ivory leather chair.

I know we get more than a few folks viewing this thread and wanted to share this, despite the age of the thread. If it works on leather, I'd certainly give it a whirl on a rubber case.

After buying a used iPhone 5/5s lifeproof case from goodwill that was insanely dirty and looked very cheap. I used a Baking Soda + Soap + Water solution and dipped my case into the solution. I then proceeded to rub the wet case over with a brush. I repeated that process 4-5 times. Then I got a spoonful of baking soda and placed it on the case and rubbed it with my hands into the dirty areas. I rinsed if off thoroughly and dried it off with a paper towel. The case looks brand new and worth much more than it did on the shelf at goodwill. Hopefully it works for you as well.
