Today i was in the middle of a text message and my iPhone started humming and it seemed to be coming from the top part of the phone near the earpiece. It was very weird. It was stll functioning, but I thought a reboot might solve the problem; so I turned it off and back on and it is fine. This isthe first time this has happened, but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else?

When my wife connects hers to her computer, there's also some noise. Not sure yet what's causing this, but our office has a lot of equipment in it... Anything near your phone when it happened?

It has happened to me once before as well. It scared me to death. I'm not sure what it was doing. VERY odd.

i know there can be interference with say, computer speakers; but this noise was coming from the phone not any other device...just wondering if anyone else had experienced it...hopefully it was a one time thing

I had a repetitive noise coming from the phone once when I was charging it in the cradle. It sounded like a low pitch electronic alarm or such. I thought it might just be a noise it makes when completing the charge, but it went away after I reset the unit and I have not heard it since.

I think att phones interfere with speakers. Whenever I get a call my pc speakers flip out. Even a text will do it.

Whenever my girlfriend puts her next to the alarm clock, it makes a buzzing sound. When I'm at work, I have to turn my phone off because it interferes with communication system that I work with. My Razr didn't do this.

The sound I'm refering to and I believe the original poster is as well, is emited for the iPhone itself and not external speakers that pick up the interference from the unit accessing the edge network.

serraghost is correct, this sound is coming from the phone, not from any other electronic device interfering with the signal
