I have set the mail setting to manual

I open mail and when I'm done I hold it down for 8 seconds until it goes back home.

Yet anytime someone sends me an email to my yahoo mail account the phone notifies me.

Is it not possible to turn off your mail?

Thanks

Turn off a mail account.

Go settings - mail. Select the account. On the next page, select account OFF.
When you want to turn it on again, your settings will be there.

Stopping Email & Leaving mail on server

Go settings - mail. Select the account. On the next page, select account OFF.
When you want to turn it on again, your settings will be there.
If you get spammed on one of your accounts this is a nice feature so you can flush the mailbox, grab the new stuff and then turn it off again. Someone was really thinking to add this in!

Heck of a nice feature..

Oh... Be sure to set (in your settings) leave mail on server or you can't pull it again to your home computer. I grab mail on my phone and work computers and then when I get home at night I grab it again and THEN delete it off the server. That way I can use "web mail" with my ISP/company to store mail 'till I want to delete it off the company or ISP computers.

Thanks for the replies. Problem solved.
Honestly, if you really wanna stop the spam, and never ever have to worry about it again, I would highly suggest switching over to Gmail.
This is what i do.
I use Gmail for my personal stuff and notifications from trusted places.
Sites that only notify me monthly, or when an account or something is updated. Like my bank(s), ebay, myspace.

I have a 2nd account that's hotmail, that I use for anywhere else that needs an email address. Places that I buy stuff from, anything like that, because they always give out your darn email address to other places, and you always get spammed.

Gmail's spam filters are INSANELY strong. I receive *MAYBE* about 2 spam mails, every 6 months. LITERALLY.
