I was duped! My iPhone won't sync with Outlook!

I worked with an Apple tech for 3 HOURS last night and we couldn't get my iPhone to synch with Outlook 2003. He admitted to me that many people were having this issue. He also admitted that people with 2007 were having this issue as well.

I feel really duped by Apple. I now have to use the Windows Address Book to synch my contacts and I also have to use an online calendar which doesn't even synch with iPhone. I have to go to Safari and then to Yahoo where my calendar sits and read it there.

This is really unbelievable and shame on me for being a pioneer and wanting it so bad. I learned my lesson...

Now I'm just hoping an update will fix this issue soon.

Its not strange when the Apple support guy told me he handled 20 calls about it and they couldn't fix it for anyone.

You might wanna make sure Outlook 2003/2007 is closed when you install iTunes. I had an issue with 2007 not syncing because of this. I rebooted.. did a repair install of iTunes, docked the iPhone and everything worked. I left outlook closed the first time i started up iTunes and docked after the repair install.. FWIW...

I sync'd my Outlook 2003 contacts through iTunes onto my iPhone perfectly, so it can be done. I hope you get this worked out but I think the problems are more likely related to user error and peoples individual computers/software configurations. I am sure there will be a small number of dud iPhones just like any computer/electronic devices, but I am willing to bet that the iPhone configurations are more consistant than the 500,000+ different levels of user experience and computer/software configurations that people are conencting there iPhones to.

I am coming from WM6 and the Zune...

I really need my iPhone to sync with outlook also. Can someone give me a tutorial on how they are doing it?:)

You just plug it in and it should open iTunes 7.3. iTunes does the rest. Couldn't be any easier.

Same here. I didn't even have to touch any setting or anything. Running XP and Office 2007 and didn't have one glitch.

When you plug in your iPhone and iTunes opens select your iPhone (Devices) then select the "INFO" tab.

Here you will define what info syncs with your iPhone. You can select the app like "Outlook" and what info syncs, etc.

BTW- I doubt the Apple rep wasn't aware of this option...give me a break its actually been available for iPods for years.

Do you want instructions on how to do it with 2 different computers or just one?

To sync, close outlook. Download and install the newest iTunes. get iTunes and and running. open outlook back up. attach the iPhone. Once the phone is showing on iTunes, go to the second tab where it asks you if you want to sync calendar and contacts. Open each drop down box once selecting outlook. check the box in front of the choice to choose syncing for outlook contacts and calendar. Hit apply on the lower right hand of the screen.

It will *not* look like its doing anything. Just be patient. After 10 minutes or so (depending on how many contacts etc you have) it will just finish and then it will be done.

Unlike music syncing, there is no indication that the syncing is happening. Just be patient until the iPhone stops saying it is syncing.

I have done this a total of 10 times. I've uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime. Installed both. The choose Outlook and hit apply and synch. Nothing happened after synching. My calendar is blank.

I'm fine using Windows Address Book for contacts, but it really bugs me that I can't synch my calendar.

The Com-AdIns are there, but the Outlook iTunes Synch Addin won't stay checked. It unchecks itself.
