i don't have a mac which this program currently only runs on but i thought i would share anyway. I hope this program is compatible with windows soon

You can use iPhoneRingToneMaker. It's $10 shareware but people on the board have used it with success. It's got a trial mode so you can put (IIRC) 3 ringtones on there to test it out.
