I'm going to take my iPhone back to the Apple store and exchange it because of poor battery life and a problem with the touch screen. Do I need to package everything up in the box, or will they just take the phone by itself and then give me just a new phone?

If you have had it for less than 14 days bring all your stuff back with it and just return it and get another. If you have had it longer than 14 days, they will send it out for "repair", but you won't need the box. They won't just swap it out at the store. It only takes a few days to get it back and they will give you a rental iPhone while its gone.

Well I went to the store, said my problems, they went and fetched a new iPhone, opened up in front of me. I gave them mine (with nothing included) and they gave me the new one (also nothing included). You don't need anything besides the phone.

I am pissed. I took it in and talked to an employee in the front of the store. He said to take it the genius bar and they would most likely give me a brand new phone. So, I go over to the bar and then they tell me that it will be shipped out for repair, and won't be back for at least 5 days! And, on top of that, if I want a rental iPhone I have to pay 30 bucks! Screw that! Now I have to go a week without a phone. Just f'ing fantastic.

But I'm not going a week without a cell phone...I'm going a week without an iPHONE! That's torture!

You probably shouldn't rub it in. For whatever reason, it seems to vary by store.

if you paide 600 dollars for a phone it would seem to me money is not an issue.. so 30 bucks for a loaner should be much?

Should try another store, or be more adamant about if they deny you

I don't look at it that way.

I paid 600 dollars for that phone, so I would expect to get a free loaner for a couple of days. That's not asking for too much, is it?

It has nothing to do with ability to pay. It's the principal of the thing.

Heck, people who pay $60,000 cash for a car would not put up with being told they have to spend another $30 for a loaner car.

And the $30 is outrageous anyway. Especially since it doesn't include insurance in case you drop the loaner. (If you break it, you owe to fix it!)

That does seem ridiculous.

It really sucks for the people that don't live close to an Apple store. You drive to said Apple store, purchase your $600 phone, get it home, excited about getting things up and running only to find out 15 days later your iPhone doesn't work due to some manufacturers defect!

Sooooo, box it up, find time to drive back to Apple store, explain your problem, have "your iPhone" that you've spent quality time with, taken away from you and then told if you need a phone while your baby's gone for a week, we need $30 more bucks! Geeeez!

yes, sure there are folks that spent their $600 dollars, and would readily spend hundreds more for more phones or accessories. And then there are folks that save up their money for weeks, even months, to spend $600 bucks and maybe get a case and a few inexpensive accessories.

I'm not bashing Apple here, I actually love Apple products and wish that I can afford more! But is it only me, or does it seem like Apple tries everything they can to drain every dollar they can out of you?
