You can do it yourself, very easily. Just sync it with iTunes, make sure you have the Windows Address Book checked to sync, and sync it. VOILA!
If you have the same contacts on your PC already, they will be OVERWRITTEN AND / OR COMBINED with the ones from the phone.

Then sync your contacts to your online Yahoo account. If you don't have a Yahoo account then create one.

Then before you return it, sync your phone with either Outlook if you are on a PC or Address if you're on a Macintosh. This is part of the sync process when you sync your phone, add music, etc. Check for an address app on your computer, it should have all of the contacts that you entered.

As a previous user mentioned, when you get the new phone, resync it and it will simply add everything that you had before. With the exception of notes I believe.

Mine actually contained my notes, as well, when I changed over to my temp phone. Somehow, it was synced, as well. ;)

Come on...

Make sure you have a yahoo email account.
Open iTunes using your mouse or keyboard for navigation
Connect iPhone to Computer using your hands
Go to the iPhone in iTunes using your mouse or keyboard for navigation
Click the "Information" (I think that's it) tab with your mouse
Under contacts, enable it and pick Yahoo address book or whatever it says and enter your yahoo account information

guys....iTunes saves your contact lists for restore. so plug your new iPhone in , click restore and it sends your contacts right to your phone , even saves caller id pics . its like you never changed phones . as long as you plug your iPhone in every day it will be updated.
