iOS 5 = shorter battery life

AfTer using the iOS 5 GM for the last few days I agree there is significant battery drain. It may be coming from cloud services. Hope they somehow address it in the next release

I'm not using anything different than I was before the update. Reminders location off, no iCloud, nothing I can think of. Any thoughts?

Agree - it evident that something needs to be fixed. So far my only gripe is the battery. I love everything else. I also noticed the battery drains when in sleep mode. To address this I am just setting up iPhone docks around the house. So I can plug in when I need to. Not the best solution but it will work for now.

Interesting actually that the standby time is 100 less hours... iPhone 4S vs iPhone 4 (from Apple.com)

Edit: A buddy of mine told me Facebook seems to keep it's location services running while backgrounded. Killing the app after use will stop this. I will be testing this today to see if it really helps..I will just be blocking facebook from using locations services.

I have always been happy if I get six hours of usage from a charge. I ran my 3GS down to auto shutoff last night. This is what I got.

Little note that this was from 90% and not 100%.
IMO this is still good battery life.

My iPhone 4 battery has taken a hit also. Getting half the battery I used to and nothing has changed but iOS.

Do you have iCloud features turned on in settings?

We can set iCloud to manually sync under the settings>mail>push>advance

I know it doesn't amount to much, but what would call a bit above usage today. Turn mail on to fetch every 15 minutes, texting, a few photos, FB, app updates and reading / posting here quote a bit. Only 1 phone call of about 10 minutes.
Doesn't appear too bad, 10% left.

EDIT: forgot I had plugged in for a few minutes to check wifi syncing.
Feel free to ignore the photo, or bash me for forgetting. Lol

Son of a gun, I forgot I plugged in to test the wifi sync. Ok... Never mind my last post then. Rrrgghh. Should have remembered doing that.

I wanted to try WiFi sync, and I did but it seems to drain my battery on my iPhone 4. For me it was that wifi is always looking for the automatic sync. I turned off wifi sync.

I sat here texting my girlfriend, while playing Hanging with Friends for the past 10 mins and it dropped from 73% to 67%, I don't think that's normal.

I did a full restore and started as new. Turned off sending Diagnostics, turned off timezones in Location Services---System services.

Not sure what else I could do.... however would it hurt anything if I turned everything off in System Services? I just don't want to mess up my 4S more
