iOS 5 update not working

I use windows and I have tried updating my iPhone 4 to IOS 5 three times now. But the same thing happens everytime. At the start of the installation it's saying backing up the iPhone. But that's as far as it gets. And the green meter that flashes stops flashing. Anyone else have any problems like this? Can I take my phone to an Apple store for an update? Or are there any simple solutions?

Don't think I am having any iTunes issues. The update for iTunes work just fine.

If it is the "green meter flashing", it's usually iTunes not updating your iPhone correctly. It could be a issue with the host file. What is it trying to attempt the green meter happens? Backing up? Can you snap a shot of it? Any errors?

The 2nd time there was somekind of notification error. But It wouldn't even allow me to view problems. I have to close it through the task manager. And the green bar stops flashing when it's "backing up" my iPhone. Not around my computer right now or I would snap a picture.
