It's hard to say, no solid answers. Id say no. I don't think there will be an iPad HD, rather an iPad 3 with suped up specs.

According to what I've read, Apple is said to be gearing the iPad HD to mimic the relationship between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro. And also the iPad HD will be meant for more serious and detailed users. iPad HD expected to have higher price than the iPad 2.

Anyway thank for your response. (y)

I certainly hope they don't have an iPad HD. Why pay much more money for a device for a better screen? The iPads screen is fine the way it is. And the rumors you hear aren't always true. ;)

This year is anyone's guess as to what Apple has in store. The release of the Verizon iPhone, the Tsunami and earthquakes in Japan have thrown off the release date by months for the iPhone, and it's speculated to have a "cheaper" version for pre-paid users as well as the high-end model that we all drool about.
Since that has been speculated, and rumors of an iPad with a higher density screen resolution have been floating around, it is a possibility, but I don't see the iPad HD coming out before the iPad3, unless the iPad three is going to be better- and that makes having an "HD" version rather pointless.

But lets put this in perspective to what we have seen with Apple and iDevices in the past 4 years. Most rumors remain rumors. Of the dozens of speculated changes and upgrades, Apple only delivers what they KNOW will work. They might be a little slow with releasing some tech, but they will never compromise the way it operates for consumers, or the battery life it gets- period. In many cases that means that many speculated features will not appear until they have been tooled, re-tooled, and then perfectly polished to the best they can. But with 3 months extra on development, it's anyone guess.

Not gonna happen.

1) iPad 2 is dominating as it is.
2) iPad 3 will probably be coming around next spring. What purpose would there be in creating a whole new product to sell only a few months?
3) iPad 2 is still dominating.
4) If we assume the resolution will double (like the 3GS->iPhone 4), that's a resolution of 2048x1536, which is higher than a lot of laptop and desktop computers. More pixels require more graphics power, and with such a large change, I'm sure Apple would want to upgrade the graphics hardware along with a high-res screen.
5) and iPad 2 is still dominating.

Agree with others in this thread. The iPad 2 is dominating. Introducing a new one isn't necessary to stir up demand and it would likely alienate iPad 2 customers.

To my mind a definite Yes. because Apple does not want to end this magical journey of iPhone and ipad which are the most successful products any company would die to have. Therefore expect an interval product before the launch of ipad 3. who knows there might be more than one products :) .

Brad, seriously? do you read anything besides the OP's post? While your comments are welcome, they are so out of place when you aren't quoting them when you reply, and it's obvious that you haven't read any of the previous replies in the thread.
You replied you apparently agree with the OP's question, yet your post is at the bottom of the discussion as to why it's NOT going to happen.
Please man, read before adding your comments, or at least click on the word reply in the post you are responding to so it show it.

Oh! Thanks guys for all of your response and sharing your insight about it. Now, I have a better understanding and a little knowledge about this. I was just carried away from what I've always read. That's why I'm asking your opinion about it. ;)

Anyway whatever gadget will Apple release let's just wait until its out in the market. I'm pretty sure whatever they release will have and offer better specs and features.

hmm, too many rumors about the iPad 3 and iPhone 5!
Just as someone said, "until the next iPad is officially announced by Apple it's all rumor and speculation to me from here on out." Me personally, I'm counting the days till I get iPad 3, iPad plus or iPad HD.

Incidentally, I'm willing to be a large sum of money Apple will not use the "HD" moniker for any of their products.

No way in hell will there be an 'interim' product. iPad 3 in 2012. Bet ya. Like hippo said, Apple will in all probability not ever put an HD in the name of any of their gizmos.

Whatever happens I still stick to my iPad 2. I don't care if they will release iPad HD or iPad 3. Unless it will be damage or dies.

  1. It's too buzzwordy. Everyone and their mother are labeling their products as "HD". They could have called iPhone 4 "iPhone HD". It's got the clearest screen of any phone out there. But no, they called it iPhone 4, and the screen a "Retina Display" instead.
  2. The term "HD" barely means anything since it isn't specifically defined. For example, an "HD" TV can have a resolution of 1280x720. If a similar resolution were used on the iPad, it would hardly be considered much of an upgrade from the current 1024x768. But "Retina Display" at least implies that during normal use, the screen will be crystal clear, which also means the resolution would be significantly higher than anything traditionally labeled as "HD".
tl;dr: Apple is beyond "HD".
