iPad iPhone messaging..,

I have an iPad and an iPhone. How do I connect both so if I text messaging on the iPhone continue texting on the iPad ?
One more question... Friend of mine has both too. If I send him a iMessage on his iPhone , does he receive the message on the iPad too?

In order to do what you want to do you will need to enable your iPad iMessage email address on your iPhone in settings and then use that address for texting with your friends on iOS 5.0+.

When I first got my iPad my messages used to transfer between iPhone and iPad. I have checked settings as described above and they are set as described I just don't know what I have done wrong
