iPhone 3GS loses signal when connected to USB

Hi my iPhone 3gs 16GB loses it's signal when I connect it to USB>computer/charger
I have 4.3.3 FW.

It seems like the usb acts as antenna when I connect it. because the signal goes up when I put the USB's other end to a higher place.

I am confused. Your reception gets better or worse when plugged in. Your post said both.

ok sorry for confusing you. what happens is when I connect it to my computer I lose the signal. probably because the other usb end is in the computer. but when I remove it from the computer's port and put the other end in a higher place I get some bars

Set the phone down on the desk. How many bars do you have? And in the same position when you plug the cable into the phone them computer?

same position 2-3bars when unplugged. but when plugged same position I get "No service"

Have you tried a hard reset? Is this a problem that just started?

I've been having signal issues since I got this fone, it's 2nd hand. but its about 2 days since I noticed that it's because of the USB

Does it happen when you charge it through wall outlet?
I would get a new cable.

I tried 3 different cables from my brothers iPhone 3gs and ipod touch 4g too same problem. yes it does happen even through a wall outlet
