Okay, I agree with this post.

Just for the record. Apple took a year and a half to release the 4S. Releasing the next iPhone may take 2 years. If they release the 6th iPhone in 2013, it is possible there will be 5g networks (even though they're not expected until 2020). Therefore there is still a slight chance that the 6th iPhone could be named the iPhone 5.

Anyway thanks Europa, and I would like the title to be changed to "iPhone 6 Predictions" if possible.

My question is, why was the first iPhone named the 2G? since it was on a 3G network?
Technically, it was 16 months, not quite a year and a half. I think fall 2012 is the most likely. They have always been about 12 months apart up until this release.

If that was the case, they would call it the iPhone 4G for LTE or iPhone 5G for the 5th generation cellular network, not iPhone 5. But like you said, the 5th generation cellular network is too far off for that to be a reality.

You're welcome. I'll change the thread title for you.

The first iPhone was simply called "iPhone." After the iPhone 3G was released, people gave the first iPhone arbitrary names to distinguish it from the iPhone 3G. 2G, V1 and orginal iPhone are the most common. The first iPhone didn't have 3G capability. It ran on the Edge network.

People rely on their phones more and more. Phones will probably replace computers in the near future. Instead of having a laptop and a phone, just connect your phone to a keyboard and screen.

You may see 25gb for 199, 50 for 299, and 100 for 399. Really storage isn't that expensive, it's just that Apple charges a lot for it.

or simpler 50gb for 199 and 100 for 299.
Mmm, SSD is expensive.

I rely on my phone for a ton of things, and I do use apps for FTP and use my device a wireless HD from time to time. But 100Gb of memory on a phone... not necessary. If I need more space I'll remote desktop into one of my Mac's at home or just use my hosting.

You can already do this.
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse plus external display.

As for the convertibles, I like this over the Atrix, again since the bluetooth keyboards makes a pseudo-laptop easy. Phone, tablet and laptop all-in-one.

Also, I'd adjust OP prediction to an A6-quad and 128GB max. If, that is it releases next fall. A spring release would still be an A5.

I just seem to doubt a quad core in the iPhone 6 because of battery life. Still think we'll see an A6 quad core? I've thought about it.

The iPad 3 should hint at the processor we'll see in the iPhone 6.

Thanks Europa for title change.

I know. You might have misunderstood my post.

This is what I meant: If they were going to name the next phone after the 4G/LTE network, they would call it the iPhone 4G, not the iPhone 5. If they were going to give it a generation name (like they did with the iPhone 4), they would name it the iPhone 6.

There is a lot of confusion here because AT&T has named some of their phones after networks, some after iPhone generations, and now we have one that's named after a generation (plus Speed).

If you like torture, you can thank Apple for never announcing to the public there wouldn't be an iPhone 5. Just letting us drool for months and then disappointment.

This is the fifth iPhone. They never assured us that it would be called the iPhone 5 or that it would have a bigger screen. We hyped it, not them. I'm not disappointed with it; it's everything I wanted. I think the screen size is perfect. I just placed my order.

Glad to hear, i do think you will very much enjoy it. I myself am going to wait for the Oct 11 Nexus Prime announcement. October 12th I'll make a decision most likely on either of the two.

We hyped it unfortunately.

Whatever mommasboy, keep believing you have class.

I didn't call you names either, get it straight.

If you're going to edit my comment, I believe the 43rd comment should be edited as well.

True, but i'm suspicious as to if this really was the reason. Samsung probably will lose sales to the iPhone because of the moved event. Not sure it's worth it but props to sammy anyway.

Seen that one handed ergonomic argument for a 3.5" limit to the screen. Maybe you'll get a 5" iPad with GSM before a larger iPhone.
