activation problems

walked into the san francisco store, lots of 4kb iPhones, but have been trying to activate for 5 1/2 hours. An ATT rep had no idea of the problems and had been on the phone with me the whole time and finally an Apple rep said it could be up to 48 hours before I get activated. I didn't even look at the phone before I bought it and now just a connect to iTunes screen:mad:

It took me 15 hours to get mine activated. 14 hours and 57 minutes with a defective SIM and then 3 minutes with a new replacement SIM. It went right through in a matter of three minutes.

This is ridiculous. I went to the AT&T store today.. and they told me to wait for Apple to send me that damn e-mail. 27 hours and I got nothing.. what do ido?

The amazing thing is that nothing works at all unless the phone is activated. If I could just use the time to sinc up all my apps and contacts, waiting for forever for activation wouldn't make me want to throw it out the window. There is a $50 "opening" fee if I attempt to return it I noted as well.
