I am currently setting up a site specifically as a directory for future iPhone applications. Developers can submit links to their applications and hopefully be a useful resource for users looking for apps.

I think you might want to put in a reference to this page:

It contains a simple Digg reader app, but the main purpose behind it is to show other developers how to wrap their apps in a nice faux-iphone skin for testing. He even includes the needed files as a downloadable bundle.

In fact, here's something cool... after you load the Digg reader, go to "Apple" and then find the link for the "1st iPhone 3rd Party Web App: OneTrip" to see what OneTrip looks like running in an iPhone. It's not a perfect fit, because the HTML frame he puts pages in adds horizonal and vertical scrollbars (which wouldn't be there on an iPhone) but it give you a good idea of how it will look and work. Pretty cool.

I am currently developing an 'iPhone Developer Interface' optimised for the iPhone so that developers don't have to start with a blank canvas and can have a standard set of controls such as lists, buttons, tabs etc that all replicate the look of the native Apple apps so keep glued to the site for that

the more these web 2.0 apps continue to grow, the more i'm thinking this may be a genius move on the part of Apple for making 3rd party apps. we're still 2 weeks away from anyone really touching an iPhone and decent apps are already coming out.

it should be an exciting time for us future iPhone owners.
