I have been trying to buy an iPhone in cali for almost the past week. When i check the Apple site for availability, it sometimes shows green and then I recheck like 30 minutes later and it shows red!

Does anyone know whats going on regarding this? now im not sure if I should even drive early tomorrow morning to the Apple store just to find out there isn't any because the site was inaccurate.

Any info is appreciated

Website showed no availability today here in San Diego. I called the store around 2:30 this afternoon and they told me they had them. Rushed over, about 30 minutes away, and bought what they claimed were 2 of the last 8 gigs they had.:)

the website only updates at the end of the day... so if they receive a shipment during the day, you won't know for sure. Best thing to do would be to call them 30 minutes before they open and see if they answer the phone and ask!

I live in So Cal, and I've called the local stores around here and they didn't have any, and the Apple site said the same thing.....I don't think they're inaccurate, but I guess some could be....

I'm not sure, just from my experiences it doesn't seem like that. Maybe it's just certain Apple Stores. Perhaps some don't relaly check their stock every night, but act like they do?

I heard that the stores that sold out first are getting the first shipments. In my area they were available until Sunday afternoon and ever since my store didn't get anymore in. I'm guessing there were a lot of stores that sold out before Sunday.

If you look in New York, almost every store has them in and from my past checks doesn't seem to be out of them or 24 hours, it appears they're getting daily shipments in.

I called Simi Valley, and Glendale today and they both had them... idk?

Yeah, it seems inaccurate

I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting very frustrated with this whole process... I stopped by the Apple store today around 5 to see if they had any in. The rep told me that they ran out today, so I asked if that meant they got some in today, and he said yes, to which I told him the online availability had said they didn't have any in. He got all hesitant and then said that maybe they just got a few in today or something. I really don't know what is going on, but I think it is a farce to have the availability site when it is not reflecting whether any are available or not. I am just going to call from now on and probably drive the Mac people nuts, but that's what happens when I find out I missed out getting an iPhone for a week now.

Sorry, the bitterness has grown.

I went by my local Apple store and they only had 4 gigs. I checked the availability that night and they didn't have any left.

I went to the store the next day and picked up an 8 gig in under 5 minutes. The Apple employee told me they get their shipments in between 10:00 am and noon.

The Apple stores are open at 9am. and the dude told me if you don't get there when they first open, they will most likely sell out. Let me tell you I had to hit up every LA/OC Apple store. The site is inaccurate because by the time you get there they are already sold. Your best bet is the the South Coast Plaza or The Grove (where I got my 8gig). They get shipments every day but now its in limited supply so they only get like one box of 20phones or so.

I got my phone on iDay but I check the availability site every day just for fun. Every day it says the Emeryville, CA store is out of stock but I ran by there yesterday to buy a case and they had about ten phones on the counter. Didn't ask whether they were 4gb or 8gb models.
