Currently I have a Sony w810i phone. it, like the iPhone has a 2 MP camera. It is great quality for a phone. one thing i love about the camera is that when you go into camera mode, the screen turns horizonatly. this means that you hold it like a real camera with the shutter release button on top and the volue buttons turn into the zoom. Does anyone know if the iPhone will be able to be horizontal or vertically orientated while in camera mode? it would be nice to have both. wide screen pictures look very good so it would be nice to have that or vertical and have the iPhone know which it is in. The other thing i like about the W810i, is that it has a nice light on the back that is the "flash" or rather a light to light things up. Too bad the iPhone is "flash"-less

it would be cool if you could do that....there are two buttons on the side of the iPhone that could replicate a camera's buttons...
the ring/silent button could act as the shudder and the volume button could act as a zoom.

Yeah, but maybe if you enter "picture taking" mode the Home could be used and hitting something on the screen could take you out of "picture taking" mode, kinda like sliding the Unlock Thingie™ to start using the phone.
I'm thinking that when you're in the picture taking mode, there will be a button that pops up on the touch screen for snapping the photo.
I don't think they'd change the home button, that's one of the main appeals of it, it always will get you back to square one regardless of where you are, what screen, or if you're confused about something...
judging from the pics that were posted on the net that were apparently taken with the iPhone, the EXIFdata said it was rotated and since it does in fact has that accelerometer in there, it could tell which way your holding it and automatically change the orientation in the pic's metadata. So you can hold it like a real camera or normally.
2.0 MP is not that bad. I guess they had to draw the line somewhere. When you combine the technology that will be incorporated into this device already, maybe they just said enough is enough.i cant understand why the amazing device has only 2 pixel camera while every other cell companies allreay released devices with 3 and above pixel camera phones.

even so, my phone camer currently has 2 MP and it is great quality. making the camera MP go up would just increase the price. and who knows its Apple. when they announced the iPhone, no phones has more then 2 MP cameras. now that there are 3+ MP cameras on phones, i bet Apple has already planned to make the camera more than 2 MP

that is true, but i don't think that it would be that big of a difference. my 2 MP camera phone has pictures with about a size of 400 KB each which is prett small. the only thing i don't like about having 2 MP is that sinci it is only a didgital zoom, when you zoom in just a little bit, the quality goes way down and becomes sort of pixleated
Yes , digital zoom is sucks, i had nokia n93 with optical zoom and carl zeiss lens and the pictures were excellent!
think about it if Apple will release the Best GUI ,usability phone combine with the best camera phone what will happened? emmm
for now its sucks that you can take picture with 2MP camera and not enjoy viewing them on this amazing screen
