K so it is arriving tomorrow or actually later today. I have read that the new update interfered with Jailbreak and all. I am on Windows.

I was going to follow the instructions here: http://cre.ations.net/blog/post/custom-ringtones--sounds-on-your-iphone-using-windows

All I am interested in is adding ringtones. My first question is can I still follow these instructions to hack the phone. Second, will these mean I can not keep my updates current or will I be able to hack the phone and still have the latest update? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Edit: I have also already acquired all the things is says you need to collect before hand. Right now I would be at the step where you run Jailbreak.

Now I just found iPhoneRingtoneMaker. Seems very simple and easy to use. Heard the update doesn't affect it. Worth the 10 bucks?

Looks like I'll use the ringtone maker then. My iPhone just arrived and I'm in the process of transfering 8GB via USB 1.0...so slow. I guess as soon as I trust that site with my debit card info I'll purchase the program for the 10 bucks.

I use audacity to record what ever i am playing (hence what i want a ring tone to be) then i export it as an MP3. Then i can add it to my phone.

I was using iPhoneinterface before but now i use manaznaUI to add them.
And it was FREE !

HAHA, I even recorded some stuff from youtube and made it into a ringtone. lol

yes I was using Audacity to make ringtones but I think I will just stick with the ringtone maker just because its so simple to use. I already made 5 tones with audacity before I got my iPhone so no I can just upload them to the ringtone maker and add them in 30 seconds.

Do you mean this $10 program allows you to load custom ringtones to the iPhone without having to go through the other "more risky" process? I also have the updated SW (1.0.1) and nobody has answered whether or not it will interfere with the ringtone mod procedure that is posted here. Can you let me know? Thanks!

You can download it and try for free. But what it actually is, is a ringtone maker. You can use any mp3/mp4 and turn it into a ring tone. You load your mp3 and then you can play it, select where in the song you want the ringtone to start and end. If you really wanted to you could use the entire mp3 for the ringtone, but I'd advise against it since if you don't answer the call after 20 to 25 secs or so it goes to voicemail, thereforee you would be using a lot of storage space. Anyways, after you create it you can upload it to your iPhone. Its really that easy. I'd download it and give it a try. You can make and upload 3 ringtones before it wants a registration code. But I personally thought it was worth 10 bucks. I had gotten it before the patch and haven't had any problems with it even after patching.
But give it a try, like I said, its free for 3 ringtones.
