i am wondering if its a software bug

how hard is it to make a power adaptor? they have been making those things for decades.

has anyone had any luck with exchanging or having it fixed at the store? i live in raleigh, north carolina and so far i have not had luck in even having my problem acknowledged.

Apple tech support

so the store was of no help. i called Apple support directly and the guy was nice enough to send me a replacement wall charger for free. but you guys should act fast - its a free replacement within the 14 days of purchase.

but i am a bit skeptical that this will work because it worked everytime at the Apple store

Why would we only have 14 days? Wouldn't this fall under the one year iPhone warranty?

"This Limited Warranty applies only to hardware products manufactured by or for Apple that can be identified by the “Apple” trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them."

Sounds to me that the AC adapter would fall under that protection.

K i just called Apple Technical support for the iPhone. The guy said that i have two options. They can do a mail-in where they would send in the new wallcharger and i would have to make a 1 dollar deposit, and then send back my wall charger, and they will refund my dollar. Other option is make an appointment with my local Apple Store, and they will replace ti fro me, but he is not sure if they have the Wall Chargers in stock or not. He also said that my local Apple store doenst have an appointment until Teusday and now iam going to go the the Apple store without appointment. Hopefully they replace it for me.

good news I just came back from by local Apple store, no appointment, just stood in line and when it was my number I just said that I got off the phone with an Apple tech and that my iPhone wall charger just stops working on and off and he asked if i had my receipt and i said no, he said ok and pulled out a new wall charger, opened it and gave it to me and i gave him my old onr. Great service only took about 1 min. Hopefully this charger doesn't screw up.

maaz - good job getting the replacement. i tried the store but the problem was that it always worked in the store.

as for the 14 day question, i think it means that you will get it replaced no questions asked. but longer than that, they will do what it takes to fix it but i think they will try not to replace anything. i am just guessing.

An update...

took my AC adapter to the local Apple store, and even though they couldn't replicate the problem, they replaced it for me, no questions asked. I brought a printout of this thread for the Genius to look at so he knew I wasn't going crazy.

Juest tell them it doesn't work at your house and it keeps going on and off, they have to replace it. Also just take the charger no wire or anything. And i think it is involved in the 1 year warranty.

My wall charger stop working two days ago, then suddenly last night I thought I would try again before making the trip back to the Apple store....and it worked. Anyone else had this experience?

my iPhone stopped charging when docked and using the ac adapter last week while i was on vacation. it charged when plugged into the usb port on my computer with no problems, so i didn't even think the phone was at fault and so didn't try a reset to see if that fixed the problem. when i got back to home, i made an appointment at a genius bar and got the ac adapter exchanged in 1 minute, no questions asked. no problems since with the new adapter...

yes mine worked agian right before i was going to take it to the Apple store but i still exchanged it because the problem would probably repeat itself.
