I just wanted to add that since doing a reset I haven't had any trouble with my phone charging. I think it's a little silly to exchange your phone if a simple reset fixed the problem. The phones they have at the store now can't be that much different from the ones we already have.

lol no, even after the reset we still had problems with it, thats why we exchanged it, and we didn't exchange the phone just the charger. Think you should read the whole thread first.

another two faulty chargers

My charger stopped working last night and my wife's suddenly stopped working the night before last. The phone charges fine with a smartphones experts aftermarket charger, with a car charger, and with an extra Apple iPhone charger that I ordered directly from Apple store.

Looks like to me that Apple sent out a mess of bad chargers. I am going to get on the phone with Apple supporta and see about getting some working wall chargers!:(

just go to your local Apple store an ask for a new wall charger and say that the one you got with your iPhone doesn't work. I just took the wall charger and they exchanged it for a new one in less than 1 min and no questions free of charge.

I did read the whole thread and there were people where the reset DID work and they still exchanged their phones. That is why I used the word "IF".

Apple exchanged - no questions asked

I have had my iPhone for two weeks and tonight when I plugged it into wall charger...... nothing. This is the first time for this to happen. Plugged iPhone into USB connection on computer, fired right up. Switched wall charger with on that came with my Nano...... and to my surprise, it fired right up. So I tried plugging my Nano into the iPhone charger and....... nothing. My Nano charger worked on the Nano and iPhone, and the iPhone charger did not work on either the Nano or iPhone, so I think there may be some defective wall charger that came with the iPhone. Seem it took a week or two to fair, but fail they have. I will be taking my iPhone wall charger back to Apple for a replacement. On a positive note, my iPhone has not had one other problems and it is the best phone I have ever experienced. Way to go Apple.
Charger went dead last night. When I got up this morning the charge indicator showed 1/2 charge. Went to Apple store today, and they exchanged it no questions asked. Way to go, Apple!

The problem of not being able to charge with the AC adaptor just happened to me. Whether it's coincidental with the 1.0.1 firmware upgrade which I just did, who knows!
But in my case, I allowed the iPhone to reach a FULL charge via the USB port. Then this morning I tried plugging it back into the AC adaptor, and voila, the phone recognized it immediately.

So...the bottom line is, do we have a hardware or software problem?
(anyone do a voltage test on a presumed dead ac adaptor?)

yes mine was tested at Apple with 2 other iPhones , he then plugged mine in to a new adaptor and it worked perfectly. id say that was a bad charger.

250 mile drive! That's why! (Not a single Apple store in Louisiana)

Anyway, Apple tech support was wonderful. Described problem, they took credit card number ( just to be sure I sent in the old bricks), and I got the bricks the NEXT day packaged in these really cool convertible envelopes that were prelabed. Put the old brick in, dropped them in a DHL dropbox, and was done. Overall excellent post buy experience.

btw, the new brick work fine.

weird thing happen today...

plug iPhone using wall ac charger. the charging battery icon shows up, but it appears that it was draining the battery instead of charging it? the battery level keeps getting lower and lower.

so i plug into usb via computer, so it charge fine.

it was just weird that screen show that it's charging, but it really wasn't.

The same thing happeneded to me. I called APPLE and they told me it was happening a lot. They sent me a new wall charger.. So far so good.

i acutally had the same problem about a week ago. and again im glad that u have the same problem but luckily it only happened once. i plugged it into the wall and then nothing, pulled it to my computer and it charged. but in the morning i noticed that it didn't finish. called Apple the next day and they just simply told me to reset it (im sure u know how to do this by now) and haven't had a problem since. thank goodness b/c i was pretty POed when this happened
