Ok, I know there is a lot of different programs for collecting album artwork, etc. But I've already collected most of my album art by saving the images from amazon.com, wikipedia, discogs, etc. I just save the image in the corresponding album folder. Other than manually attaching each image to the album with in iTunes, will iTunes search with in your music folders for album art? Maybe by embedding the album art into the folder. Any suggestions?

I don't think so. It pretty much uses the iTunes network for that, and nothing else.

Album Cover Art Downloader for PC allows you to drag and image on to a song to use as an album cover. I embedded all the images into each song which works great. I had it setup the way you did, but realized it was pretty cumbersome for transfers.

Yeah, this is what I am talking about. So using this application embeds the album art into each individual file? And iTunes will extract the album art properly? Just wanted to clarify, thanks.

Not sure why not to use iTunes? You can select all the songs of one album, right click, select get Info, click yes, then PASTE the album art of your choice into the album art section and all the songs have the same art. Not sure if iTunes is adding the art to every song but it seems to work with each song for a period of time. iTunes was easy to work with to correct/change album art of messed up files. My wife has CDs from India which had no information AND iTunes had no idea where to get the album art. Used internet to save selected image then paste it into iTunes.

Yes, I am aware of this option. But in my experience it doesn't in any way embed the album art with the file/folder.

This poses a problem because:

A. If you ever have to reinstall iTunes, readd your music, or anything similar you have to do the whole process over again. ><

B. I use multiple computers, 5 including my work computer. I don't want to go through each of my iTunes libraries manually doing this each time. I have over 800 albums in all. It is monotonous enough to just do it once. ><

I mentioned in the original post that I wanted to avoid doing it this way for these reasons. I am looking for a fix all solution.

I've found a couple programs that may do the trick. I knew there was a way you could embed the information into the files/folders. iTunes will extract the images from the file/folder if it's embedded.

Thanks for the suggestion though. ;)

That is odd. When I do the get info and paste the album art I see it process all the songs. It actually takes a period of time for this to happen. Additionally if I miss one song, iPhone does not show the album art. I have no idea what iTunes finally does but it seems to be processing for some time. The more songs selected the longer the process takes.

Your welcome.;)

what I do is google image search for the album covers. Actually, being a huge Hendrix fan, I have gotten out of print record covers and adjusted my Hendrix catalog accordingly. Most of the music I listen to was mostly released on l.p. So I hardly ever use iTunes.

I did go on google and re did the album art but how do you get it on iPhone without syncing to iTunes? The new album art still does not show when I play the song, it still incorrect art for the song.

ok bare with me I'm in the bar. Once you have the lp art on your desktop you then go to iTunes and right click on the blAnk art picture of your lp and go to info and then browse for your pic. There you go. Hope it helps
