I would like to see them introduce an add on so that you can use your iPhone to listen to the radio. This is one thing I love to have as I like to listen to my morning talk shows on the way to work and it would be a must since I will be using this instead of my MP3 player.

Does anyone know if this is this planned at all?

I don't know!

I would hope that they would build in this functionality once and for all as all MP3 players have always avoided building in radios to the players. After market parts have been available for adding a Radio and will probably be available for the iPhone eventually as well... just wish they would throw this one in.

Yeah that really pisses me off that no manufacturer ever thought to include a radio with the MP3 players... I guess they are worried about the extra size and weight it would add and they probably don't feel like they can increase sales significantly by adding it so thereforee they don't do it!

I would love at least an FM radio in my iPod or iPhone.

Lot's of Mp3 players have radio. Ok not lots of them :laugh2: but mine does and I have a JoS MP-400 mp3 player and its really small! and the radio works perfectly. I don't think its the size that would matter if they don't include radio to iPhone it will be for different reasons, like just to mess with us who wants it =) Would be a big misstake if they wont include it, maybe the afterquakes will make them put it in the 2.0

I share your frustration at times. You can equip your iPod as a very slick FM radio... but it'll cost you another $50.

that is the only thing the iPod is missing is a FM Radio. its simple, but people still want that convenience of having it with them on the go, looke at the Zune, they were smart enough to put one in.

They may add one to take away the Edge the Zune has over the ipod. If iPhone has radio why buy a zune? They may do this but then again they may not.

If the iPhone doesn't support radio reception, internet radio may still be an option. Wifi is definitely fast enough for streaming audio. I am not sure about EDGE though.

This is one of the biggest things I want to know about. I'm a Sirius subscriber and I'm PRAYING that I'll be able to listen to Sirius (ok -- Howard Stern) through my iPhone while I'm at work.

Hm, I think Apple's last concern is anything about Zune. That thing was dead before the first one even landed in Seattle. I wouldn't expect that MS is going to put much more money into that thing.

Back on topic though, can't you stream radio off the internet? It might be kind of a backward way to do it but you could probably listen to your favorite radio station on an iPhone that way. Via Safari.

Also, rather than try to squeeze more hardware into the iPhone for FM radio, it's seems like a better solution to code a widget to do the same thing.

Well, if it doesn't ahve a radio, I'm sure there is some online site you can access to get radio. :)

Don't get me wrong though, I realllly hope it DOES have a built in radio.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that if I had to wager one way I'd say it will NOT have a built in FM tuner. I think (as we've stated) the ability to listen to radio via the internet connection will be the only way to do it... so let's hope this EDGE thing is that good...
