Has anyone else heard about a software update for tomorrow?

A rumoured software update for the iPhone, expected to be released on 5 July, could undo some of the progress hackers made towards unlocking the phone. "If Apple releases an update on 5 July that includes 'fixes' for our efforts so far, it will be a setback," gj said. "I don't know if it will be a permanent one."

I hope they improve the stability with the software on the phone. I also wouldn't mind some performance boosts either.

As long as we get something good out of it I'm all for an update. Comon Apple reward the early adopters with ichat and video for our camera. Maybe support for more corporate e-mail servers and landscape texting.

id kill for ichat but i think att sucks and won't let Apple.

yeah your right about that they would lose on texting but they are better than verizon they probably would have made us pay for every video we watch on youtube...they are blood suckeers. I hope they give us mms and turn up the volume. But i am happy with it as it is now:)

AT&T has tons of phones that have IM in them. I seriously doubt that's the reason there is no iChat yet. They'll add it.

You know overall I think this phone is great, and any update would be nice to have. I would definitely like to have MMS and not have to do it the way we do. Also the speaker issue would be a great fix, I think start there and it would be a great update.

I agree with you. We have to remember that Apple had it's hands full packing the iPhone full of features as it is.

This is only ver 1.0 and anything 1.0 by any mfg is not their finest work. Be patient with Apple, at some point they will get it right.

Plus don't forget this is their first cell phone, as they have no prior experience with phones.

I think they did ok given it's the first effort.

I don't know how they would accomplish adding video with just a software update.

It probably depends on what capabilities the camera has, but if it's anything modern it probably could support capturing video if the firmware and software supports it. Both of those are upgradable.

AT&T I have had for over 4 years now, they do NOT like chat on the network for some reason.. On the blackberry they did not support Blackberry messenger (even tho it did work) they also did not let the Yahoo service book go out like EVERY other carrier did so you could not yahoo IM (unless you used a third part app) AT&T want you to pay the SMS fees and they know if you have IM installed most people wont need the SMS package. Sad but prob. true....they got to make money somehow.

That would be a nice dream. But it seems to me a hardware dependent matter rather than software one. The camera doesn't even have zoom.
