Heya

looking for some advice from seasoned iPhoners :eek:k:eek:k

I have a choice between these two networks/contracts

1) Unlimited data over wifi hotspots and 3g
Pretty crap 3g coverage of the UK

2) 750MB acceptable use policy on data, they wont charge/disconnect if you go over it, but if you go significantly over it frequently they may take action. Thats 750mb on 3G and a separate 750mb on hotspots.

Very good 3g coverage.

Now I wont be downloading music/films over 3g, I wont be watching you tube videos, wont be using internet radio. I'll use maps, a lot of email and a decent amount of browsing/facebook etc. Everything else will be synced via iTunes (podcasts etc).

The only really data-intensive use I can see is uploading some pics to facebook sometimes, and if they ever make a flash browser I might listen to clips of songs on beatport charts now and then.

I doubt I'll ever really use the hotspots either.

So what do you think, I read the average user clocks up 200mb of data a month from a few independent websites, but nothing like getting it from the horses mouth so to speak!

Suggestions/feedback very much appreciated. :)

Um, not sure why this was moved. Its not about carriers, its about how much data iPhone users use for different tasks, and how much data people feel is needed for different types of user.

Doubt many people will see it now.

It's in the right section now lol.

The mods like to keep things tidy.

I understand you are referring to Orange/o2 networks. I've been with o2 for years and when I found out about Orange getting rights to sell the phone's I was curious.

I thought Orange would have pulled out all the stops to try and get people from o2 to join them. To be perfectly honest Orange have made a silly mistake there just thinking money money money. Orange could have made there contracts a lot cheaper and provided a better package with it.

Go with o2. They haven't let me down with my iPhone, yeah I've had a few problems, but it's nothing that hasn't been rectified in a few phone calls.

Hotspots- Trust me, you will use them, you don't see the benefit right now... but you will.

IPW is correct, o2 haven't really let me down in years. Although I was curious about Orange as there coverage is superb.

O2 doesn't have that bad coverage, and most major cities are covered with WIFI hotspots. For example, here in Manchester city centre, I cant walk along one of the major streets without being connected to a BT hotspot. They are also expanding at a decent rate.

Just being looking a little more in depth at Orange's monthly charges etc.. They really have messed up, so much more could have been done to make them more appealing.

If I was Orange I'd be smashing my head off a wall now calling myself an idiot.
