So 24 hours after i got it and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Two weeks later and I must say that im wondering If i made a mistake. I still think its the coolest thing, but man oh man is this the most inefficient cell phone i have ever used. Slide, click, click click click then make a phone call.
Edge doesn't work half the time. I had to disconnect the WIFI because of the stupid SMTP. Two different SMPTs all day long? You must be kidding me. The fact that when i turn on the phone im back to where i last was sucks. I don't necessarily want to be where i was. I want to make a call! Then the non searchable contacts is horrible. Trying to drive and look at that little index on the left to find someone is horrible. i have 800 contacts in my phone. On the treo i would press the first letter of the name and boom im there. Click, call done. no more with this thing.

I received directions from my secretary via text. i needed to send it to a client via text. Ummm. now what. Thats right. i had to get a piece of paper and a pen, write it all down, then type it in to a new text. Not good.

The phone is beautiful, a technological marvel but im starting to think that i should have stayed with my treo for a while. The hype got me.

This one button thing sucks. no combinations to get you somewhere fast. No nothing to do anything fast. And try making a call to a contact while driving.

And where the hell is the update!

Wow, with so much to iPhone hate, I'm amazed that:

a) You didn't take it back for a refund
b) It took you so long to find this website so that you could complain

Ahhhhh, but then you you'd have to actually own one to take one back.....

Did anyone mention that Trolling is against the site rules.....

kind of

before the steadfast devotees start swarming, I did buy this fully aware of its incomplete software set. The inconvenience is pretty staggering at times, but I knee what I waste getting with this product and am awaiting a major upgrade before I bail.

However, I did not sign on for the horrifically inconsistent and usually weak edge signal in areas where my former ATT Treo had full strength. I also didn't count on crashing programs, serious interface and app switching delays, an embarrasingly weak phone sound system, dropped calls and static-laced conversations, an awkward camera, no CUT AND PASTE, and so much more...

And yes, the new Blackberry is mine if the upgrade is weak or direct come first and, yes, my ass can handle the smack of the screen door of indoctrination.

This is a common response. Any critique, no matter how moderate and ressonable, is met with base, shrill insult.

You are right, funny thing is that besides having iPhone, I have Curve and Blackjack and they just work, from day to day, they work!

I also love the ones that are so star-struck by a 600- device that they actually believe people would pretend to own one to post on this site. This silly and frequent response says more about the accuser than the accused.

Took so long? Ive been a member since the day that I got the phone? And as with anything it takes time to get to know a product. These things are not something you discover in a day or two. I have no intention of returning the phone. None at all. Apparently im not the only one with some gripes.

Yeah, there are some pretty glaring issues with the software. I knew this wasn't a Blackberry / Moto Q replacement for a businesss tool. I still have my Q and will for 12 more months... just in case I need to do something businesss related that I can't do with my iPhone.

I hope the first update fixes some of the crashing problems and gets me on my Exchange server finally. That would be a huge plus. Not being able to forward a text isn't an issue for me... but cut and paste would be HUGE. Not being able to cut and paste with a web browser as powerful as the iPhones is a SERIOUS oversight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the update.

i wont talk about what it lacks because everyone knows what it lacks. and you SHOULD have known before you purchased it. but i don't find anything an inconvenience as far as current features are concerned. especially in call functions. accepting another call is so much faster than my moto was , in fact this phone is faster in every way than my moto was . i don't see whats so hard about sliding and clicking for a call it takes 2 seconds.....

Right. Where this phone shines, its incredible. But it needs a lot of work. I didn't expect a BB replacement either, but at least a decent PIM and astrong phone mic/speaker. High hopes for the update .

Good Lord, People. The OP has more than valid points. I LOVE my phone for what it is... a shiny, new toy. Before you bash me, understand me. I gave up my more more powerful and businesss oriented Treo 700w for this phone. I KNEW I was giving up a lot of stuff, but copy and paste? I found this out the first night, and I was like "what the hell? Apple is better than this" So I hold out for the next update.

Everyone here - Everyone - has some sort of gripe about the phone. Chris has pointed out, not everyone is where we (or you) are. They have to find things out for the first time - what they don't like about the phone - finding EIP, etc.

Kinda rambled there, but the point was that the OP has his place to complain about the very same things that everyone else has...

One last thing... for the "we all knew what was lacking in the phone before hand" people. Maybe I'm wrong, but can someone please show me ANYTHING that says "no multiple texting, no camera controls, no cut and paste"....

The Moto can't hold a candle to the iPhone. The one and only feature I miss with my Moto Q that totally sucks and keeps me from going 100% to the iPhone and ditching the Q... is the ability to tether via Bluetooth and get my Macbook online while on the train in the morning.

Everything else I can live with once they get the Exchange server problems fixed. Right now I'm forwarding all of my incoming emails to my mac.com email addy just so I can see messages coming in. It's not very professional when I have to respond using my non-company email addy. But hey, hopefully I won't be waiting for 6 months to get Exchange going on my iPhone.

I would say that I kinda agree with you to a point. I'm not a hater and actually I love that phone. Though I am thinking maybe I jumped the gun and bought into the hype just a little. Though Im still not out of my "trial period" and could return it, I really don't see myself doing it. Being like the 5th or 6th PDA type phone ive had in the last few years (from Blackberrys, Treo's, HTCs to MotoQ etc. I always get whatever is "new" the day it comes out) I say I do like this one the best over all. Though it does nothing GREAT, it does just about everything very well. Thats more then I can say for most PDA phones. Most pda phones do one or two things great and s*uck at the rest.

Guess we will see what happens in the next couple updates. But I think I can muscle through till they start getting updates, patches and some 3rd party software to come alone. Hey if not I can always sell it to someone for a little loss and get something else. Its just a phone afterall I mean I'm as attached to a phone for work as the next person, but when ya really sit back and think about it I think we are starting to get crazy in our demands of "what I NEED on my hip 24/7" Like when I went to my Moto Q i was like "Oh my god how will I ever live without a touch screen, this phone S*UCKS!" But after a while I LOVED it and prob kept that one longer then any other phone Ive ever had. And If i recall correctly that didn't have cut and paste right out of the box either. So right now you may be freaking out because you paid $600 or whatever for a phone, switched networks, got a new number, waited in line for 4 months, bought into the hype, but keep with it. One thing I found out about new phones is there is a "OMG I love this thing" phase, then a buyers remorse phase, then a "Ok this is do-able" phase, then you go back to "This phone rocks" (thats usually after a couple months, some 3rd party apps, and some software updates etc..

Not me, I'm still very happy with my iPhone. Sure, there are some features that I would love to have, and it may not be a replacement for a Blackberry or some other businesss oriented smart phones, but I have to say that I still love it.

I think it boils down to adaptation. After all, for those of us who've been waiting on an Apple mobile device since we had to give up our Newton's umpteen years ago, this is a new glorious day. We've all been used to our Blackberries and Treos and I must admit...at times I do miss my BB, I miss little things like holding down the number 5 key to speed dial my office and of course the cut and paste and misc menu options.

I know I got so caught up in the hype of this device I never even thought about it not having basic functions. SO right now I "like" not "love" my iPhone and I check multiple times per day for an update. And soon it will be here, we'll all install it and then find something else to complain about.

I feel lucky..... I think the iPhone was made for people like me. I rarely use it as a phone. To me its a really cool video ipod/web browser that just happens to be a phone. Here is an example, I ride my bike for transportation and recreation and I like to listen to tunes while I ride, this caused me to miss the occasional call from my girlfriend checking to see where I was and when I would be home. So now instead of walking in the door and hearing " I tried to call you 3 times" one click on the headphones and I can tell her I am mountain biking and will be home in a hour. I can see how someone who is a heavy phone user could be disappointed by the lack of blind, one button press call features of most cell phones. But I love mine.

All im saying is 3 posts. 3 bashes. 1 thread. It does seem pretty awkward.

I love my iPhone though. I Love how its fully customized to my taste.
