Is "Talk Radio" too political for a Apple app?

I am David Kyle, the creator of the app "Talk Radio." Lately I have been getting emails and comments from customers accusing me of not being balanced with my first round of shows listed on our app.

Our shows include: Rush Limbaugh, Allan Colmes, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Ed Schultz, and Dr. Laura.

Yes, I can admit we have more Right Wing shows then Left Wing but when 80% of Talk Radio is of a Conservative view point how can we, as a businesss stay 50-50 in our show listing?

For President Obama's Inaugural we hosted a special listing and got a great response, however this morning we received nasty emails from Left Wing customers accusing me of being a Neocon and giving us bad ratings on iTunes!

I would like to know your opinion, what should be my response... if any?

if you can't offer the lefties a product, then there isn't much you can do. You simply won't be able to convince them to listen to Rush Limbaugh.

how would you expect them to react if not bad ratings? They didn't like the application, so they rated it accordingly.

Talk Radio is dominated by conservative commentators, thereforee, your app will be dominated by conservative commentators.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you providing a product that millions of people would be interested in. Of course you'll get left-wingers who are upset, but of course, they don't need to use your product. Since most youngsters are the ones who have iPhones and are downloading apps, and since most youngsters are naive supporters of liberal pop culture, you're bound to hear back from them in the reviews. Big freakin' deal.

Personally, I am a huge fan of talk radio, but I use WunderRadio, which is my favorite internet radio app. It's got about everything I could possibly want.

On the contrary I think it's not conservative enough. I'm waiting on one single talk radio host before I purchase the app. The day you add the undisputed leader of the new school Andrew Wilkow is the day I purchase your app (along with many others I'm sure)

As for those who criticize your line up let it be know we live in a country of liberties and freedoms and by no means are they forced to purchase the app or listen to the content. Those same liberties are extended to you to create a product of your choice and sell it for whatever price you chose. That's the difference between conservatives and liberals. If there isn't a product on the market a liberal likes then they complain and force producers to comply. A conservative realizes the demand for the new product and competes in an open market!

Hm

Naive? That was a pretty degrading statement to us "youngsters who actually take the time to educate ourselves and believe what we believe because it's in our heart. Not because it's "the cool thing to do". That statement is a great example of why the "youngsters" lean to the left.

OP,
In any event, I personally feel that if I don't like an app then I just wont buy it. It's also understandable that people who don't like it will leave bad ratings. If you can handle the emails, and you feel that you are making the right businesss decision, then I wouldn't worry about it. You can't please everyone.
I guess to speak to both sides though, you also don't want to alienate one group either. Who knows what apps you may put out later and I know I pay attention to the names of companies. If they make one app I don't like, chances are that I'm not going to buy anything else from them.

I just bought your app after reading your post. I also found (with a quick search) THREE apps for NPR (which I didn't bother downloading for free). I haven't noticed anyone complaining about a "balance" with these apps, so please, don't waste my screen space with crap I don't want to listen to. If someone wants to read or listen to a liberal media there is plenty out there for them!

CaliPhone I agree. I just bought DK's app after reading his post and am enjoying it.
