Is the gophone all 9s loophole still open?

I just ordered an iPhone and intended on activating it with the 999-99-9999 SS# to be offered the gophone plans. However, Im now reading this didn't work for some people, and someone even suggested that ATT may have blocked this approach.

So before I even open the box when it gets here, has anyone activated by this method in the past few days?

I think all you need is the SSN of someone in your family who has terrible credit. Then maybe it'll offer you GoPhone, then use your own name and info.

Not sure if that will work or not. Worth a try?

Maybe they just shut down all obviously invalid SSN's, especially ones like all 9's that has been used over and over?

Try all 8's. :)

Yes, Id thought about all 8s or 7s if the 9s don't work. I suppose I could even use on of my kids SS#s. I assume their # wouldn't pass a credit check since they have no established credit. And whos to say that Im not setting up an iPhone on a gophone plan for them anyway? :)

Im one of the unfortunate souls that is still under contract to another carrier for another 9-10 months on 3 lines. ETF would run me $600, something I just don't want to pay.

I currently use a Blackberry and pay $20 a month for the data service on top of my voiceplan. My thinking was once I get the iPhone, I cancel my Blackberry data, and essentially Im getting the iPhone for 29.99 a month on the cheapest gophone plan. Ill still use my current plan for my calls, just switch to a small flip phone, and use the iPhone for my mobile data.

My iPhone will be delivered tomorrow. Ill post back to let anyone know what happened. Im going to try the all 9s first, then 8s, on down. If that doesn't get my anywhere Ill use one of my kids SS#s.

Once Im out of contract I want to move to ATT anyway.
