is this the right way to jailbreak+unlock 3G 3.1.2

ive heard so many things about jailbreaking anything further than 3.0 so its kinda confusing and i think i got it but i want to verify everything before i make the jump. i am currently on 3.0 and want to upgrade (mostly because some apps wont install)

1. (current version 3.0),
2. (upgrade via itunes----> 3.1.2),
3. (jailbreak with blackra1n)
4. (run blackra1n and unlock with blacksn0w)

is everything right there? i have to make extra sure because i am currently depending on the unlock for my phone to work. thanks

It will work fine. After you JB, open blackra1n and install Cydia and blacksn0w

ok it seemed to work but I am having problems with cydia. I keep getting bad gateway errors and nothing will install.

May be a coincidence, but ive been having bad gateway errors all day and it was to do with my wifi. Are you using wifi or data network settings?

data network, and everything seems to be working from there other pages load and everything

Ezekiel, the cydia problem happens a lot and sometimes it just works fine; no worries and grats.

OK. It's news to me that we can now unlock 3.1.2. Is the original post correct that 3.1.2 can now be unlocked and used on other carriers?
