I work construction and everyday I empty sawdust and other debris from my pockets. My phone was getting covered with crap daily and I was worried about scratching and damage. So I went and bought a Belkin acrylic case hoping this would help my phone's shiny new paint job , but I soon found out it wasn't enough. Dirt and stuff was getting in the case from the open port holes and open face. So I found a new solution

My iSox :

I went to the store and bought a little kids pair of socks and I stick my phone in it and then in my pocket. Works like a charm. Also makes it easy to get the phone out of my pocket. I just reach in and grab the top rim of the sock. Also , the fluffy inside of the sock works very well at cleaning the phone.

I got 6 socks for 3 bucks at The Dollar General. Best investment I have made in protecting my phone.

Advantages of iSox:

1. Cheap.
2. Mid range impact compatible.
3. Moister proof.
4. Security device , who's gonna steal a kid's sock ?
5. On demand cleaning , cleans your phone while you walk !
6. Protect while charging , usb connection fits with ease.
7. Dust proof.
8. Washable with your unmentionables !
9. Unlimited supplies , 3 dollars.
10. No 2 year contract !

Depends what they are made of. If they're cheap polyester (aka microfiber) you're golden.

Otherwise, I'd be concerned about them either being linty (sticking to the screen, getting in the dock connector, etc) or scratchy.

I use a sunglasses bag (scratch & lint free). But the fluffy impact protection is something you'd want to keep. Maybe sew a microfiber bag/cloth inside the sock to get the benefits of both?

I prefer Gap athletic socks for this and yes I'm guilty of using them for other smartphones. Haven't used them with my iPhone. It's funny, I remember pulling my Moto Q out of a sock to show a friend. I think he was a bit put off by my housing the Q in an old sock.

I still have the box of iPod socks that someone gave me as a Christmas gift last year.

They fit great on the iPhone. These are my primary case around the house.
