Hi everyone, sorry for the newb troubles.

Just got a White Verizon iPhone 4 today on firmware 4.2.10 and tried using the latest greenpois0n to jailbreak it but it keeps getting stuck on the connect to iTunes stage after the skull pops up. Restored my phone 5 times today and tried again with no luck. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Would anyone be so kind to point me in the right direction?

The first thing I would try is downloading TinyUmbrella for Mac or Windows. When you open the application click on "Exit Recovery".

Edit: I just re-read your post after becoming more awake. If you restored your phone you likely updated to the latest firmware which only offers a tethered jailbreak. I'm not familiar with the Verizon firmware updates either, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in soon ;)

Moved to iPhone Jailbreak.

Greenpois0n doesn't work on 4.2.10. You'll need to use redsn0w. It's a tethered jailbreak.

Thanks for the replies guys! Been out of the iPhone loop since jailbreakme.com. I was looking at jailbreakmatrix.com and it said my firmware was supported. So just use the latest version of redsnow? How do I do a tethered jailbreak?

I think there is some confusion on this because of the similarities in the firmware numbers. greenpois0n works on GSM iPhone with firmware version 4.2.1, which is an old GSM-only firmware that was released last November. There is no such thing as 4.2.1 on the CDMA (Verizon) iPhone, just 4.2.6, 4.2.7, 4.2.8, 4.2.9 and 4.2.10 (ten, not one).

Here are directions for jailbreaking 4.2.10 with redsn0w:

Oh my. This whole time I was thinking it was it was 4.2.1... Thought it was like math where the 0 is automatically there haha. Will try this method tomorrow and report back. Thanks for all the quick responses!

Yeah, I think naming it 4.2.10 was a bad idea.

You're welcome and post back if you need any more help. Tethered jailbreaks are a bit of a pain, but it's better than being stock.

I'd rather be ten firmware updates behind than run a stock iPhone. Damn Apple blocking my jailbreaks :p

I agree. I'm so used to being jailbroken that I can't get out of the habit of swiping the status bar on the rare occasion when I am stock.

I do it all the time on my iPad, it drives me nuts not having SBSettings. With all the new tweaks for iOS 5 I'm looking forward to using BBSettings the most.
