Jailbroken, stuck in set up screen after restore via iTunes

I have a jailbroken iPhone 3gs and I tried to restore it via iTunes, now it is stuck on the set up screen and I cannot get into it through iTunes either. Is there a way to reverse this?
If I connect the iPhone to my macbook air I can still import pictures but that is about all it does.
I retried it several times but it never goes further than this and since it is jailbroken I believe Apple support won't be willing to help me out.

You need a sim(installed) from the network the iPhone was originally on, to Activate via iTunes.... unless the iPhone has been factory unlocked....then any sim will do.
