I might as well share my experience with the Apple store and the new plastic cover (iCrystal) that I got today.
I was reading about all those other plastic films online, but I decided to just go buy the Apple one because I was basically too lazy to make a choice. Plus I kinda decided that, despite the extra protection it might add, I didn't want the film on the back of the phone.
So I hop in my car and drive down to the Apple store. Lone behold! My iPhone stops working on the way. Good thing I am on my way to the Apple store! I walk in and tell the guy at the genius bar, he tells me to make an appointment, so I do so and wait around for about half an hour.
Finally its my turn.. and he tries it out and it still doesn't work. Then he plugs it in and presses the home and lock button at the same time and BAM it works. OK.. problem solved. So I buy the iCrystal film that I had planned on, along with an armband case (for working out), and I'm on my way.
I get home and of course right away sit down to put the film on. The set comes with two.. and to make a long story short, I really screwed up on both of them. (dust underneath that caused bubbles, then trying to fix it made it worse).
So I go back to the Apple store and tell them the film was screwed up (hey.. it was!) and ask for another one.. a very nerve wracking experience. I am more successful with the second set.
All together a very frustrating day with my iPhone.. but I must say I love the iCrystal cover. Much more peace of mind now, and the fingerprints seem to be less bothersome. Overall I would suggest it. 15 dollars for 2 films (my mom ended up using the other on her phone).. isn't really too bad of a deal.
