I was driving and trying place a call. Had full signal (all bars). Dialed number and nothing would happen (just said "Calling"). Kept doing this for about five minutes and nothing. Then finally it went through (said "Connected") but it never rang. The person on the other end said that they had just tried me and it didn't ring - went straight to vm. Again, I had full bars (signal) and was not in Safari, IPOD or any other program.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Any chance you were trying to call each other at the same time?

Same thing happened to me today. I was in the office and I tried to call using the iPhone. Same messaging calling.... I used the land line and made my call. I didn't think about until on the way home 2 hours later. I tried to call 611 and "0" same thing. A few minutes later, I got two voice mails from the same source 1.5 hours apart. Then, I was able to use the phone. I suspect it was an AT & T problem. I had good signal strength for both the iPhone and Edge.

There was one instance when it just just connecting for about a minute. I turned the phone off then back on again and it connected fine.

Did you have ATT/Cingular before?

If you did, you would be used to this by now.

Especially if you had a treo.

I'm an existing AT&T customer and this is usual. It happened to me a couple of times with different cell phones. So, don't worry to much about it.

My phone just calls people on its own without any prompting and no ringing. So your prob wouldn't surprise me either. These are just all those hidden little features Jobs stuck in there for us. :laugh2:

Funny same time calling experience

I had some fun last night when I missed a call, and the caller tried again at the same time as I tried to call them back.

When I called the _other_ number back, _my_ phone started ringing.

Now that's true multitasking... the first phone I've ever had able to ring itself up!
