Hey all,

Quick question to everyone. Do you find that the last 50% of the battery seem to discharge much quicker than the first 50%?

It seems for me I can put a good solid 4hrs into the first 50%, and then from there with another solid hour of use I'll be down to prob the 20% mark.

Is there anything I need to do to condition the battery? These are observations I've made using the iPhone over a period of a week, and doing about the same things everyday with it.

How bout everyone else?

Joe

Others have mentioned that the second half seems to go faster, yes.

As for the battery, no need to condition this kind of battery, beyond perhaps discharging it once a month just to keep its internal power meter in sync.

Here's Apple's page:

http://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/

Generally, you can keep it topped off. Try to keep it from getting hot, that kills the number of recharge cycles (the lifetime of the battery). So avoid hot cases, sunshine.

This doesn't necessarily mean that this is a problem with your battery. It could just mean that your battery icon wasn't really making a good prediction on how long that battery would run and it went down faster then it originally thought.

However, I can't be sure on what your exact problem is.

I have the same problem as well. I use my iPhone all day long. It seems like once the battery is past 50%, its not long before the 20% and 10% full warnings come on. I'd say just try to keep it on the charger when you are not using it.

Thanks for the input everyone, glad to see it's not just me. It's def not in our heads :), especially the 20% to 10% drop is mega faster than it should be.

My bottom 50% definitely discharges faster. It also recharges faster. Ever watched the battery meter on a recharge? The first half happens very quickly and then it keeps getting slower and slower until it finally finishes. Perhaps this is something to do with the trickle charge? I have no idea. Anyone?
