It sounds like you are more concerned with Apple's handling of your lemon rather than 1st gen products in general.
This is just one example of several. For you to speak for me, saying that it was about the bad computer rather than 1st gen products, is way off base.
I know there are 1st gen issues, but I'm willing to tolerate them, but a lot of folks, like yourself, are not.
Again you are making an assumption and drawing a conclusion suggesting that I'm not willing to tolerate some issues. This is completely wrong.

I just joined this forum today, and if you read my other posts, you will see that I'm a big Apple advocate and supporter. Rather than jump to the conclusions you have.

I work as a software engineer in the tech sector and understand these issues far better than the general public. The only point being that I do not expect perfection or a completely trouble free experience.

As a moderator of another forum of my peers, we routinely speak freely of challenges and experiences with issues related to computer science. This is a forum of professionals that do not judge one another, or make assumptions, or be critical of individuals viewpoints. There is a spirit of respect, amongst all forum members. We all benefit from honest conversation and idea sharing.

However perhaps I'm learning that it's not OK to be honest, open and share my experience in the company of what perhaps are Apple fan boys that will not tolerate truth or anything less than glowing praise for all things Apple.

Perhaps the message is, instead of contributing with enthusiasm and honesty, it's best to sit back and let others gush over the wonderful products from Cupertino.

Sorry if you've taken offense at anything I've said. I'm just responding to your comments. If you make certain comments you should be prepared to receive certain responses. That's part of the fun of these forums. :)

No worries, perhaps I misunderstood your post.

Cheers...:)

I agree with what archer has said and will most likely not buy the first generation iPhone for similar reasons. Beyond not having 3G, more memory would be helpful. Plus I still have 1 year left on my current contract.

If Apple fixes the major bugs and puts out a v1.1 or v2 around the holiday season with 3G, I will most likely buy it.

Well Said.....:)

On one hand I want the first iPhone to do well.

However, then again I'm hoping there will be just enough bugs for the consumer to push back and cause Apple to release version 1.1 or v2 within 6 months after the initial intro.

That way we will have the option of buying a really good, fully debugged iPhone with lots of nice improvements. Apple has always been quite good at listening to their customers and after the iPhone has been out in the hands of the public, I'm sure there will be opportunities for Apple to improve it.

Cheers
