First of all, I love my iPhone, despite some minor glitches: exiting to home from Safari for no reason, pausing songs in the middle of playback, and other random glitches. But today was the weirdest and most worrisome.

After I called my grandparents, I hung up and listened to my music on my iPhone through my headphones. All of a sudden my friend Christine is on the line. So confused, I assume she just called me and I must have accidentally accepted the call or something. So I ask why she called and she says, "You called me." I checked later and it said outgoing call, so I know she wasn't lying. I have not called her recently, I was not touching the screen, and even if I had, it was in the iPod mode, and I did not telepathically ask the phone to call her. And yet it did.

Luckily she is my friend and I don't mind talking to her, but I am a little freaked my phone might do this again. Has anyone had this happen or hear of it happening? Do you think I should go see Apple or wait to see if it happens again... although I think I should start deleting some of those exes' numbers in case it starts drunk dialing for me.

Or maybe Steve Jobs is just testing out the iPhone shuffle on me: http://www.mac-essentials.de/bilder2007/iphone-shuffle.jpg/iphone-shuffle.jpg

Did you reboot the iPhone? (Turn it off, then turn it back on?). I bet that fixes your problem. I know it's the fix for the Safari crash problem.

Reboot

I've rebooted a few times, and it has fixed some probs (like the fact that I couldn't make any calls after I first activated the phone), but only time will tell if it will fix this random dialing problem.

If it does it again, I am definitely taking it to Apple.

Try restoring your system software from iTunes before you take it in.

I'd start worrying if it happens again. It could have been something weird or you hit a button by accident, even though you say you didn't.

I am hoping it was just a freak accident. I keep thinking that I must have done something, but 1) I had the iPod open the whole time and never saw it change before it started calling my friend and 2)I never heard it dial or ring, she just came on the line, so even if I did something, I would have at least had some kind of warning.

But so far, so good. No more random calls *knock on wood*.

I had this problem the first few days I had my Ipod. Then I realized I wasn't locking the phone before putting it back into my pocket, every time. I didn't think the screen could be activated much by being in my pocket, but it can end up on some random screens including calling, really quickly. Since I have remembered to be sure to lock the phone, I haven't had any more weird instances of being on odd screens anymore.

Just be careful of what you say around your iPhone then. You might accidentally call someone and at the same time complaining about him/her. Think i better delete my Boss's number. Sounds pretty weird and strange but electronic items can sometimes do the unexpected when you least expect it. Just like the stupid electronic problematic Apache!
