Mail app in Lion

I just cannot get used to the three panel pane. There so many iOS infused pieces of Lion that just don't make sense to me. First off, my brain is used to having a two panel inbox and I don't show the preview below. Having multiple apps open, I don't like allocating this much real estate to Mail. It allow seemed difficult to track down groups of emails. For example, I like to sort by sender and then mass delete Twitter notifications.

Thankfully, tucked away in Preferences > Viewing is "Use Classic Layout".

What are your thoughts on the new Mail app in Lion?

I like it. It looks 'classy' for some reason. I may switch to classic view though. For multiple apps, just double-tap 2 fingers to get mission control to switch app windows.

When you say three-panel pane do you mean the sidebar with mailboxes etc, the message list, and the message preview as the three columns / panes? If so, you know you can hide and un-hide the sidebar with a click right?

I think Mail is OK in Lion. I'm not living it but not hating it either so far. I don't love the grouped by conversation thing for messages (I know it can be turned off) but I'm trying to get used to it.

for everyday use, i like sparrow better.

when i need to do hardcore emailing mail.app works fine. don'y have any problems with the new one really.

I do like the hide the sidebar, but when you unhide it, the window constrains to the same width. I guess that probably makes sense, just doesn't work for me. I might jump back in now and again to see if I can get accustomed to the change.

Search is definitely different too.
